Looks very nice.

A 1TB SSD is huge and very expensive. You could go for a 512gb one if you wanted to save £.

In terms of heat issues, a few (by which I mean 2-3) people have posted on the forum saying they experienced them. Given that PCS must sell hundreds of the things, if you have heat issues I'd say it's a faulty unit rather than the chassis having problems.

max level gaming
Some games will never run well at maxed out settings, either because the settings are incredibly demanding (e.g. SSAA 4x which basically runs the game at 4k) or because the demands are too great for any modern hardware, or the game's engine has certain quirks. Just saying so if you buy the laptop, put all of Fallout 4's ini settings to max, and get bad performance, you know it's not that laptop's fault ;)

For 4K performance you can check benchmarks online for the gtx 1080. 32gb ram is excessive for just gaming

For gaming there's no point to 32gb RAM. There's already very little difference between 8gb and 16gb - 16gb should be more than futureproof.

A GTX 1080 will struggle with some games at 4k on higher settings.

Why has absolutely nobody here reviewd the 120hz no gsync panel for octane 3....its like as if it doesnt exist or maybe because pc specialist is deleting all reviews.......???????

What a strange thing to say? Why would PCS delete any reviews?

I can guarantee that's not the reason, I would have though most people would buy the gsync screen given the choice.

The only stuff that gets deleted from the forums are advertising and spam posts (and believe me recently there's been a whole lot of spam), or if a post is so full of swear words that the mods feel they can't easily clean it up (edit: ) or duplicate threads/posts.

Octane 3 laptop..will the 7700 be quieter than a 7700k..

Which processar runs less heat....or does it not matter if i get a 7700k and i dont overclock it.....moneys not a problem...heat and noise might be if it sounds like my wifes hairdryer...

I would suggest that a gaming laptop won't be your best bet if Db levels are important. No matter what you do with a high performance laptop it's going to make a fair bit of noise on full chat. The choice of CPU and GPU will make a difference to heat but the cooling system is going to be working very hard at full tilt to keep everything cool regardless.

Fan curves can help to a degree but during a high performance game it's going to be close to full fans.

No choice ...laptop it going to be since ..ill be taking it too work...just wondering if the 7700k will be better if i dont overclock it....or should i just go for a standard 7700 which uses less power...

If you don't need the performance of an S series CPU you could just just to the H series.

If you do need the extra CPU performance, you could get the 7700k and undervolt it. Not every chip will take an undervolt, but quite a few people here seem to have shaved 100mv or more off.

At stock speeds, the 7700k is measurably faster than the 7700 non-k

In my honest opinion it won't make any difference to fan noise. Full bore these things are noisy. If you don't want a loud fan, the laptop isn't an option. If you can grit your teeth and live with the noise of some relatively loud fans then get the 7700k and undervolt it as suggested. You'll get way more performance and the noise will be the same than with the non-k.

FYI - My 6700k Octane III is relatively quiet under normal use (Browsing, office stuff, etc), it's only when gaming or processing heavily it gets noisy.

Edit: I would also add that the Octane isn't really an office laptop. It's a desktop replacement so be prepared for a bit of a monster laptop wise.

Ive read a lot of reports that the 7700 gets very hot when just opening a browser let alone gaming and the fans go crazy...something to do with a crappy design or something..

Octane 3 max spec or defiance 3 max spec

Which one shall i go for...octane 3 1080 display which i can connect to my 4k tv sometimes or the defiance...worried that the octane 3s high temps will shorten its life...

constant00 please stop creating new threads, it's best to stick to one thread because them stuff doesn't end up being repeated over and over - I've merged a few of yours together (and I may not have finished with said merging)

The laptop GTX 1080 will struggle with 4k gaming on more modern titles with higher settings. So getting an Octane with a 1080 just for occasional use with your 4k TV might not be worth it.

1st Hard Disk
1TB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SAMSUNG PM961 M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3000MB/R, 1700MB/W)
Having a 1TB 850 Evo as a secondary storage drive doesn't seem like great value, and won't benefit game performance. I'd stick with an HDD - you already have a 1TB PM961 as the main drive anyway.
