Was asked to post here. This is the specs for a gaming, audio workstation, with Google Chrome running on the side (Which in my current system, an i5 7400 and a GTX 970, is being eaten by this as well as background services).

The reason for no OS is because I already have a OS install. Had a hard drive fail in my current PC, needed a replacement. I plan on transferring the OS on my current to the M.2, where I will put all the software eventually. Games will be on another SSD.

The CPU cooler I'm unsure about. I would opt for a cooler, but my case needs to be 46cm Height due to space restrictions. Similarly in diameter as well. Width is max of 30 CM too. My desk is not able to sit a PC on top of it, due to lack of space and it being glass. And there is a tray here for a desktop PC to sit on.

My budget is £2000 at most. I'm not fussed about lighting, though I may just opt for a better case in the end due to airflow. I must know what case I can get that is black (To match a theme) with front USB ports (Height not accounted for, would prefer if it's on the edge front of the PC and not on the side).

The reason for this build specifically is because my current PC is way too slow for what I use it for. Games are constantly bottlenecked causing insane lag. My DAW of choice FL Studio, is constantly lagging and sometimes crashing. The other software running in the background chews on memory and CPU. I badly need an upgrade. I want an RTX 3080 for compatibility with Ray Tracing as well as providing optimal performance at max settings 1080p. I've never been able to experience gaming at maximum settings. Would be really cool to be able to. And I've been waiting years for an upgrade anyway. Since games are becoming more demanding, and some software, I definitely need this.

Looking at your case requirements, I think that your best port of call is ordering in a Fractal Focus G case, which will be a better chassis than the options above in terms of airflow, can come in black, and fits the dimensions specified above (444x205mm).

My primary advice would be to wait until the 3050 comes out, but if you need a PC asap this should sort you out.
3060ti is the lowest spec rtx 3000 card out at present. It is still overkill for 1080p in most cases, but supports second generation RT, and is £300 cheaper than the 3080 for near identical 1080p performance.
Newer CPU, and approriate motherboard to match.
Unsure if you need 32GB of RAM or whether you'll be fine with 16, but left 32 in for now.
You didn't mention if you were also transferring a HDD across from old build. If you have one already feel free to remove this one.
Got you a top end m.2 SSD for rapid boot times for OS and programs.
Buffed your PSU to a fully modular design, that will support future upgrades and run quieter and cooler than the TXm.
Top end cooler with the ability to turn RGB off if you're not a fan.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Fractal case used to be on there, but it has disappeared from the configuration interface. I was going to get it originally because of the disk drive. I kinda still want a disk drive, since I have a few retro games. I don't trust emulators after the previous one I installed gave me a trojan and required my entire PC to be wiped, and have Windows reinstalled.

The reason I wanted a RTX 3080 though, because I forgot to mention (Sorry!) is for future proofing, the same with the CPU and RAM. I don't know how much more demanding things are going to get in the next 5 years. But considering 5 years ago, my current system was able to max out a few games with reasonable FPS and some minor adjustments, it wouldn't surprise me if the next few games for this decade are going to be so much more demanding of hardware. I predict near CGI quality, hence why bigger components will give me enough time and money to save up for the next upgrade where my last rig would be unplayable.

Also, what's the issue with the CPU? I'm curious. I also forgot to mention multi-tasking (sorry again) I would rather have a few extra cores to be safe, to be able to run Google Chrome and multiple other applications, preferrable with a 1080p video stream, whilst playing games. Sometimes, depending on the game I play, I will have Photoshop to make some artwork or something else heavy open. I also cap the FPS in some games to reduce hardware usage and lag spikes.

I need the memory because of the background software as well as undo states in other software. I'm not sure how the Mhz would affect it. In gaming, apparently it does matter, so that's why I went with 3600 originally.

So you can order the Fractal case from another site and have it delivered it to PCS, where they will put the build together for you.

Futureproofing GPUs is very hard because they improve at such a fast rate. The 3070 outperforms the 2080ti, a card that was only two years older, and double the price. In 2 years we will likely get another £400 card that will outperform the 3080. By the time we get to the point to where high end cards struggle to game at 1080p there will be much cheaper replacements. You either need to downgrade the GPU or get a better monitor to make use of a higher end graphics card.

CPU-wise, you're going to be jumping from 4 low performing cores to 8 high quality cores, jumping to 12 isn't neccessary at this time. The 5800x will outperform the 3900x in most fields. Yes, the 5900x would be better, but it's currently costing way too much to be worth considering.

RAM wise, if you think you need 32GB then we can keep it in. Asus boards are currently having instability issues with 4 sticks of 3600mhz so until that clears up we are recommending 4x8GB 3200.

Ultimately, you've given yourself a £2000 budget, and we're doing our best to get the optimal build from that budget. This build will last 7-10 years with a couple of GPU upgrades.

I failed to explain another thing. The future proofing also means pushing the card to its limits on future games (With CPUs, software), meaning if it can run heavy demanding games in 2025, I can play it at low settings with good FPS. That's mainly why I considered a 3080. With a game like Minecraft with RTX on, I kinda want the Ray Tracing to have good performance. I may up my resolution to 1440p in the future. I plan on playing Cyberpunk 2077 too if that gets fixed. There will no doubt be other games with ray tracing

We also can't eliminate the possibility of another scalping sweep of the next series of cards. (The 40 series probably) and the re-reselling of a current GPU to get that next series card.

I'm not sure about the CPU though. I'm multi-tasking remember. I'm not sure what I use that is multi-threaded, but it has to exist given my i5 7400 is going at snails pace and crashing with a lot of applications. I occasionally edit multi-layer videos, the DAW I use has a lot of high quality audio libraries and settings. Also multi-layered. So many applications are CPU heavy, that's why it's concerning to go lower.

I'll change the RAM. Somebody on r/buildapc suggested I upgrade the RAM. Not sure why?

I'm sorry for dragging this out. I just have a lot of doubts. This is technically the first PC I've ever designed and part-built. I was going to build this at first, but it seemed better to get it here, with the warranty and being able to pre-order the 30 series cards.

I'm just going to leave this here. I've given you advice, if you don't want to take it then that's your right. There are some very knowledgeable people on these forums, most of them are a lot smarter than me, who have tried to give you advice in their free time. You presented an unoptimised build, I suggested some changes and you steadfastly refused them. If you want to blow your budget enjoy the below. But remember that despite our warnings you'll be waiting 3+ months for a build with a GPU that's massive overkill for the level of current use, and will be thoroughly outclassed by the time your needs catch up.
Sorry I can't help further, but I can't kick a dead horse.

I wasn't refusing. I did say to people I'm autistic, and I can't communicate. I don't understand why people can't understand that. The main reason I posted this was for the case, but I was told to ask about that here for some reason, because I needed people to know the hardware.

I want other opinions on the build and case, not just yours. That's why I'm not necessarily going to go with your recommended. The main issues still applies with the case (One that PCS has in stock preferably, I'm too useless to deal with anything relating to deliveries), CPU cores, and Video Card. I'm not trying to have the best possible system or even the cheapest (But save where I can like for example, removing RGB). I'm trying to get something that will run for a good five years before becoming obsolete to the point where I am now with a GTX 970 and i5 7400, where barely any new titles run at a reliable frame rate (Borderlands 3 runs terrible even at 60fps capped on lowest settings at 1080p, for reference)

I also don't understand why I'm having bad experiences here. Is the forum usually like this?

The problem here is the budget...we can put a 5900x and a 3080 in a system at that budget...but that would then create a very imbalanced build which may well be thermally limited or power limited. To create a well-balanced system would cost around £2300.

If you want to stay in budget, you need to either:

1) Keep the 3080 and lower the CPU to the 5800x. This requires a lower motherboard as well which brings it near budget.

2) Keep the 5900x and lower the GPU to the 3060Ti.

Lowering the 3080 to a 3070 brings cost down £100 so not really much in that. Of course, if you can find the extra budget, that would be a different matter

I guess I gotta give up the CPU then. I looked at benchmarks for games, and it is better there. Since they are kinda my primary focus (hard to say what is with the amount of work I do), I'll get the 5800X. I'm not really sure how it performs better? that's kinda where I'm confused.

I switched the CPU cooler because I do not feel comfortable with water cooling. I know the Noctua looks ugly, but this is not a PC for looks. I'm worried about water damage as well as the liquid cooling just evaporating within my room and case, and leaking. The last thing I need is a water damaged PC, and creating more problems for the market of these new-ish products by requiring replacements. My old PC is going to someone else to replace a cheap optiplex they got elsewhere.

I'm really nervous about buying this though, because I've been planning it for a while. Had many saying the previous build was fine, giving good information I didn't know about like VRMs, Memory Latencies, and aftermarket coolers.

I'm still really unsure about it though. I'd have to use a smaller one for the case I chose. I don't really have the time to deal with a leakage or reapplying thermal paste. I just need something that lasts.

I'm still really unsure about it though. I'd have to use a smaller one for the case I chose. I don't really have the time to deal with a leakage or reapplying thermal paste. I just need something that lasts.
When these guys spec a build they are looking at a 7-10 year life span with maybe a couple of GPU upgrades

Hang on. Just noticed a flaw. Wouldn't air get trapped? Meaning if the AIO was mounted to the top of the case, the air coming from the top will hit the top of my desk? Unless there is a way to configure the AIO to the rear of the case. There's a lack of clarification/configuration options for this sort of thing.

Can you post up the build that people said was okay, please.

let’s just take this slow each component at a time, with reasoning as to why.

Those are the main parts. The case was something else before, because I was planning on building myself. But the prices are so inflated everywhere, for each of those parts.

How do you mean air get trapped, this is my desktop that has 2 exhaust fans in the top, about 30 cm between the top of the PC and the underside of the desk

My situation: (File was too large to upload for some reason).
It might have airflow, but it's still trapping air a little. Given the case will most definitely reach the top, it seems like it would touch the top.

Yes, it is leaning out because the power supply cable is in the way.
It's not safe to sit on the draws next to it. Because I can just yank something out and knock it over. I can catch it by accident. And I do not trust a glass desk to hold a ton of weight. This desk was 2nd hand. I hate it. But I haven't got room for a proper desk, or even a table which I had planned at one point, but I have no room. I hate this house, and I hate my life.

I guess I would consider a compact PC instead, just might mean I won't be able to add another PCIE due to the height of the 3080.

okay, anyone that said that was okay really does not understand PC’s, electronics or thermal requirements.

The very minimum is a 750 PSU, however that is a brand new PSU with no ageing applied.

It also means that PSU is going to be operating the majority of its life well over 80% of its range.

This means the PSU will not be operating efficiently, it will cost more real money to run (household electricity).

It will also be pushing out more heat (remember the heat).

the CPU, graphics card, PSU and RAM will each generate heat, the motherboard chosen will almost be like a heat sink, the chipset needs cooling, VRMs need to be really good for the components you have added.

so we have a PSU operating inefficiently and kicking out heat, the motherboard will be radiating heat.

As you want a air cooler, it will be moving that warm air around the case.

Now with a good case, say LL fans fitted, then they may keep things cool.

However a cheap case is not going to have the same level of cooling capability.

This means your heat from all components will simply not be shifted efficiently and likely result in thermal overloading.

You are then compounding this by restricting the airflow even further.

Air has a natural boundary flow over an object, this means you run risk of recirculating that air back in to the case.

my 2010 PC had a 650w PSU, I have a 750w on my new one simply to handle a 3060 Ti

my 2010 and 2008 rigs were both liquid cooled with no problems.

We are not being awkward or anything, we are simply trying to get you a system that meets your requirements.

To get a specific cool pc to meet your exact requirements, may mean building it yourself, as simply fitting high value, high power components in to low value low capacity / capability parts is just not what anyone would feel comfortable recommending.
