Issue with new laptop

Hiya all,

I am having issues with my new laptop. It is running windows 10 pro. The problem i am having is randomly the screen just keeps locking. This happens on any website and at completely random times. Usually seems to be when typing with two hands which is so weird. I have tested this on battery and on charge and still no difference. I have also changed all sleep timers to never etc. I am having to submit this through the use of another PC as I cannot actually use my laptop at the moment due to the issue of not being able to complete any tasks as the laptop just locks all the time when typing.

Any ideas guys??

Did you buy it with Windows installed (and paid for) or did you install your own copy of Windows?

The test windows that’s installed is just that, it’s unlikely to be properly configured.

You’d need to reinstall windows from scratch.
That would be my advice too.

Allow Windows Update to install all drivers and if you still get the screen lock issue give PCS a call.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have wiped the laptop and put a new version of windows 10 on and it is still happening. Only seems to happen when typing with two hands though honestly so weird lol

When it happens are you resting your hands on the chassis of the laptop?

If so, does it still happen if you deliberately try typing with your hands held off the laptop? So your only contact with it is (very, very gentle) touch from your fingertips?

Basically from the description it sounds to me like something's not quite right in the chassis and you pressing it triggers the issue, though I could well be wrong.

So it happens just when i am typing even without my hands resting on the laptop. I know the normality is to type with hands resting on the laptop but even with my hands raised and so that it is as if I am typing with my finger tips it still happens and just locks it. However it also locks when I am typing in my password on the lock screen which is so weird. Could it be worth opening up the laptop and checking everything is connected properly?

I would try booting it into safe-mode and see what it's like then. If all is well in there, a complete fresh install of windows will hopefully cure all issues. If not, it may be a hardware issue....... I would look to memtest to check the memory first. After that, I would hand to PCS.
