It Was Only A Matter Of Time- 3090TI, 16GB 3070TI & 3050 Announcing Next Month

Too late, already have a 6800XT and just got my gf a 3070 (which tbh is about as much as she'll need at 3440x1440 for the rare chance she plays newer AAA games)

But Nvidia are really going to town overloading (and confusing) the product stack this time round, huh?
Tbh I'd rather they fixed the issues that led to the shortages and crazy prices we have had rather than manufacture more. But that capitalism or something... intended consequences perhaps? I think we all know that MSRP/tier will never be the same again.

Anyway, add in all the partner cards and there's gonna be quite some overlap at this rate.
The 3090ti (is that pretty much just the new Titan now?) might have a point. If any takers at the kind of prices I expect, assuming any availability. But the 16Gb 3070ti... will that cut into 3080 territory? Assuming it's still GDDR6X, it's overkill for it's position, 12Gb would more than do. 16Gb is more like the number the 3080 should've had from the start, if not the 3080ti. If it did I might've been ok with paying the at best +50% premium they had over the 6800XT for months on end.
Nothing new from Nvidia though tbh, the savvy, patient ppl hold out for the ti or super version they know will come along eventually so they don't feel like suckers later on.

I know it's unlikely but if Nvidia focus too much more on this gen now, it's a possibility that AMD might even get the drop on them next gen and launch first... but maybe that's their plan, who knows? As for AMD, no news afaik re more models but they're probably focusing their slimmer resources on doing better still next gen, on par with power aso plus evening up with RT. The admittedly little by way of projected specs I've seen for the 7900XT are insane.

I know, it's infuriating.

Apparently the SEC (Securities Exchange Commission in the USA) are opening an investigation into price fixing.

But this kind of behaviour is unforgiveable in normal times, but NOW???? With everything that's going on in the world??? I mean, that's just pure greed.

As I may have mentioned before (lol) there's several reasons I went for the far inferior (as I've been told elsewhere) 6800XT over a 3080. This is pretty much the reason that isn't based on performance, expected or otherwise, short or long term.
It's as fishy and stinky as rollmop herrings left out in the sun for a day or two.

I think PCS need to re-visit their calculator to be honest. It seems off to me, even when doing rough numbers in my head. I think they are using TDP across the board rather than maximum draw.

I just configed a 3090 Strix with a 11900k OC and it said 850w with 20% headroom. 20% means they've calculated 680w maximum use.

The 3090 Strix will pull 480 at full chat. An OC'd 11900k is way more than 200w when allowed to run off its rocker. Then you have the drives, overheads etc.

The calculator is 20% off IMO. I would base the system as needing 850w and want at least 1000w in that system of a small cushion.

I stand corrected, I just wanted to double check there.....

"We have calculated your specification to require around 696W of power including a 20% allowance"

That means they're calculating an OCd 11900k and a 3090 Strix at 556w.

That's an absolute country mile off. Not even close!

For anyone that want's to try it for themselves...

Mine seems to be coming to coming to 696W... better, but still 150W short of just a 11900K and 3090 at full chat... stock 😬 I think I'd agree

I would definitely post a note to the admins, I've always thought there was something a bit off about the allowances.
