It's here!!! :d

OK, after playing Just Cause 2 at it's highest settings for a few hours, I think I can safely say that it is a problem with Crysis (and Crysis Warhead). But I think I'll have to get a wired XBOX controller, this whole keyboard thing is still a bit much for me in games like Just Cause 2. I'll be trying Shogun 2 tomorrow. =)

Well with a bit of luck maybe it is just a corrupt install on crysis you could try reinstalling and did you install all the updates for it as i think some of those are just additional on top of previous ones.

I bought an Xbox controller for playing GTA4 but it has come in handy for AC series, NFS:HP and will be getting used for Dead Space when i get round to it but you can't beat the keyboard and mouse for FPS though ;)

Never mind torture PCs...its tortured me by bugging out on literally one of the last sequences of the game! (wont add spoilers, but needless to say, the VTOL wants to sit half a mile out to sea and not pick me up, no matter how many times I reload it :( )

Funny Fact:
Ran Crysis on a 1 GHZ pc @ maximum settings.
(Pc was 8 years old)
it had like 4 FPS but it didn't crash.
lol!
and my Cold Cathodes are here, should i make an unboxing (i haven't seen an unboxing of them, they're the only cathodes on amazon) but please bare in mind that im 14, so if i do, please don't hate me. :) (Akasa Cold cathodes: blue, twin pack BTW)

Hmm, so I turned the PC on again, play JC2 for 20 minutes and then the PC shuts down then boots back up... I have no idea what the problem is, I think it may be overheating :(
I really hope it isn't, if I'm not able to run games for more than 30 minutes, then whats the point of buying a gaming PC? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm beginning to feel a bit disappointed by my purchase :(

EDIT: CoreTemp is giving the CPU temp of 45C, GPUZ is giving temp of 58C and 46C on the graphics cards. This is straight after the reboot. Surely it can't be an overheating issue?

a good idea would be to get a Fan controller (a touch screen one is > £30) and it also has temp probes, which could be useful :)

I'll try and find the one im on about in a second :)

And Atleast that would say for definite if it's too hot or something else :) Also, try downloading/ installing net framework 4, it might actually work :)

Thanks F3AR, I'll give that a go. A bit more info with regards to the temperatures: The top card reached a max temp of 78C during a quick game of JC2. From what I have read, most people seem to regularly go above these temperatures, so I'm not sure if overheating is actually the issue.

Now, this may seem a stupid question, but do I need to install all those discs that came in the welcome pack? I thought they were just drivers for the hardware and would already be installed...
Also, would the soundcard cause the system to reboot if it got too hot? It is stuck between the 2 graphics cards, so the heat from the top card is probably being pushed onto the soundcard.

I may be clutching at straws here, but I have a feeling the problem may be my fault... (SHORT STORY)

When I got the PC, the sound card wasn't working and Live Support told me to reseat it. So, I unplugged everything, opened up the PC and set to work. Since the sound card is between the two giant graphics cards, I figured it would be easier to just remove the graphics cards and soundcard then reseat all of them. No, problem, I thought naively. So I disonnect the SLI cable, remove the power cords going to the graphics cards and take them out. I reseat the soundcard (the bracket to secure it in place was a bit bent, so when screwed in, the soundcard was pulled out the slot slighlty), put the graphics cards back in, reattach the SLI bridge and plug in the power cables.

Now that I've opened the PC up again to check the dust filters, I realise that the power cables either have all black wires while others have black and yellow wires...
Do the different wires signify different voltages etc. ? If they do then I might be over/under powering the graphics cards. I did say I was clutching at straws, but I'm hoping for a miracle :)

Eeeek..... firstly switch off and reseat that soundcard it should be sat flush like the GPU's and the power cables you will have 2 x 8pin and 2 x 6pin connectors so you can't go wrong with them as each card uses 1 x 8pin and 1 x 6 pin but make sure you seated the GPU's properly and the cables are firmly pushed in.

Your temps don't sound high mate but the best way to check temps is leaving your temp monitor running while your gaming and alt-tab and see what they are running at they will start to drop slowly as soon as you do this but you will get a better idea and a game normally gets it up to temp after only a minute or 2.

OK, reseated everything again, still having problems :(
As for temp checking, I checked them while gaming and the top card didn't go over 79C. I'll contact Live Support tomorrow and see if they can help.

How to fix the error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950375
Your welcome.
also. google is your friend :)

BTW, this looks to fix the error it's giving you. but not the actual shutdown error.
i will help you lol. Just so you can be like, OMG it works, then i can be like, 16GB of ram, Nuff' Said. LOL!

Also, Did you download these games off of steam?
if so, it might be a bit expensive, but buy a game on a disc. it would be the useful-est to buy the same game just incase, and you can always send it back at a later date :)

Also, Heres a dodgy fix (it involves removing the ram, as it might be dodgy.) look at the bottom of the page.
^ Don't do this fix. i have a better idea. make the voltage higher for the ram. im sure thats it. :) Also, it could be your Powersupply which is dodgy.

Congrats on moving to processing :)

With regards to increasing the RAM voltage, how would I do that? I'm guessing in the BIOS, but I have NO idea what I'm doing in there :D
Also, do you think I should try to lower the overclock, as it may be unstable? And if so, how would I do that?
Finally, is there anyway to check if it is the PSU?

Thanks again guys.

Don't alter any overclocks or any voltages unless the PCS support guys tell you just incase, best bet is what you said before speak to the support guys and let us kmow how you get on.

Hmm, I seem to have sorted it out, thanks for your help guys. When I went into the BIOS, many of the settings were different to what they should be (for example the RAM speed was set to 1866MHz) I set them back to the settings PCS showed on my order page, and have been playing games for a few hours with no problems :)
Also, forgot to tell the NVIDIA control panel to enable SLI again, so maybe that was the problem?

Anyway, I thought Crysis looked good, but I am blown away by Just Cause 2. Just wow. Thanks again for your help guys, expect some large doses of +rep! :D
