Just want to confirm that this build is fine before I order

Hi

I've been looking to get a new PC to play 1080p games at a high level (primarily strategy games like Total War) and for a while was considering trying to build it myself, but I used the configure a custom PC on here and tbh the price seems excellent. So much so that it makes me feel I've done something wrong. The build I'm looking at is:

Case - CORSAIR 175R RGB MID TOWER GAMING CASE

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600

Mobo - ASUS Prime B450 Plus

RAM - 8GB Corsair 2400Mhz

GPU - GTX 1660 Super 6GB

SSD - 256GB

PSU - Corsair 550W CV Series

2x extra fans

All of that comes to £690 without an OS (I can get Microsoft free through a friend), which seems incredibly cheap for what I'm getting. I know there's a few areas I'm cutting costs - most notably the small amount of storage space - but that is intentional (the PC is pretty much solely for games and I never have more than 2/3 installed at a time). The power is more than I need (it's rated 320w) but this would give me an upgrade path in future. I just want to make sure that there isn't a major bottleneck in there.

Cheers

Seems ok to me the storage which you mention is very low you could upgrade to a 500gb ssd. i assume u using m.2 drive. The ram could be upgrade to 16gb 300mhz as it will increase performance as 2400mhz nowadays is quite low

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at the RAM. I'm not too fussed about the size as it's very easy to just stick more in later, but I'll look at getting something around 3200mhz.

You're limited by the Motherboard and the RAM (as suggested). If you were willing to put the extra funds to it, I think it would make a big difference in the long run (taking a 3-5 year system and turning it into a 5-10 year system). The B550 would be the upgrade that would allow this.

With the RAM, you have chosen 2x4GB. This isn't a modern defined standard for gaming. You want 2x8GB. Even if you need to hold off to save a bit more it would be significantly worthwhile.

Yup, definitely gonna up the RAM. I'm probably going to delay buying it for a while,I was hoping to do it a bit piecemeal (e.g. add another 8GB of RAM down the line) but from what every says it's better to just save up and then go all in. Thanks for your help.

Yeah it definitely makes more sense. If you went down the 8GB and then 8GB, you would be taking up 4 RAM slots for 16GB which doesn't make for an easy upgrade path down the line.
