It was working perfectly well this morning, never had any issues with it. Came home today evening and it just flicks from the logo to a black screen, then the strange image with notes, then black screen and then everything again. Please help…

Could you post your full specs from the order page?

The message suggests the BIOS is being/has been flashed but has failed. However if no one has had access to the PC then this cannot be the case as a BIOS update doesn’t happen itself.

Can I do anything manually at all to perhaps cancel it?

No, I this morning I just turned it on like usual, watched some videos, turned off and unplugged the laptop. Now I came in, pressed the power button and it just gives me this…
That's very odd and may suggest a rather nasty bootloader virus. Something is trying to flash a BIOS image, luckily it's failing, but I think the only way to get it out of the loop will be to reset the CMOS.

You'd need to contact PCS to find out how to do that I think.

Will do, thank you!

On a UEFI system? That's what UEFI is designed to stop. Someone has attempted to flash the BIOS on this, I have little doubt of that.

Just wanted to say that I posted a thread yesterday about my laptop not turning on and having some strange massages popping up (like “Flash update failed”). I would like to thank the moderators and everyone else who responded to my cry for help (God bless you guys/girls ❤️).

I also contacted PCS yesterday evening about this and received a reply this afternoon already! Having done as I was advised, the laptop has just turned on (I have just finished resetting the CMOS)!

All in all, just want this post to be seen as a thank you to everyone who helped solving my problem (I was very nervous about it as I have no knowledge about how PC works internally) and as a review of PCS’s technical service (a quick and helpful reply).

Best wishes,

Well done, glad it got sorted quickly, that was a really strange one!

Can I ask what method you took to reset the CMOS as it may help others?

It's kinda an off topic answer, but :
I came here for a laptop, i stayed for the people that "live" here
They are wonderful and nice !

with that said, i'm glad that your problem is now resolved ^^

I did everything as stated on this link Just took off the bottom plate, unplugged two red cables (as shown on the picture there), held the power button for 40 seconds, then plugged the cables back in and turned the laptop on.

However, I have just tried switching on my laptop now again and it shows the the exactly same thing (flash update failed)…Not sure why this is the case. Will try this again after work, but if it still does not resolve it, I may need to send it to PCS to have a look at

The fact you have the same fault again is not overly encouraging. Fingers crossed the fix works again and permanently this time.

I don't think it will, there's something at the OS level forcing through the flash. I think you need to clean install.
