Laptop for son - £400 budget

I'm looking to get my (16 year old) son a new laptop for Christmas and have £400 budget.

He will only be using it for school/collage work so doesn't need to game etc - so it's more for running applications such as word/powerpoint etc

His current laptop (a HP) is so slow it takes about 5 mins to start up and then everything you click or press takes about 30 seconds to register - so with this new laptop it needs to be quick and also not need replacing in a couple of years time.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance :)

TBH, at this budget you'd be better off with an off the shelf product than a custom built, custom laptops are more expensive at the lower end than an off the shelf because they're a very niche use case with low sales volumes.
