I stopped doing (or offering to do) evenings/nights/weekends/holidays when they removed the 2 overtime rates.
it may seem odd but I actually enjoy that shift on a Sunday 18:00 - 00:30 as of course there are no customers getting in the way

I don't have customers, but clients...and they just provided a steady stream of documents to turnaround (process flows, project reports, etc.), so there was always work if you wanted it.

The worst was when you were the only documentation person on the project (when it was supposed to be a team of 5). This is when they brought in the 'professional day rate' to replace the 3 different hourly rates...but then instead of working as I had been from 7am to 3-4am each day, I'd refuse to work past 7pm and then let them worry about the 60% of the workload that wasn't getting processed. I even left it to them to prioritise the workload for me, as there was no way I could work out which one of 50 pieces of work was the most important.

I finally left when, on a different project, they brought in another person to help, but wanted me to train them on the software & standards we used...yet were paying them more than I was getting paid (which was supposed to be their max allowable daily rate).

I went freelance (rather than agency) from them on and set my own rates & hours. It's only my current client where I'm on a day rate with no overtime, but it's 8:30am-5:30pm Mon-Fri only.
