Hi everyone, My friends considering an upgrade for his old laptop. Any one able to go over this for him and make an suggestions ? these are the sort of games he want to play on the laptop. Helldivers 2, kingdom come 2 when it arrives, medieval dynasty, manor lords, total war games. mainly want to concentrate on that stable fps and that it will be viable for a good few years.

I’m no laptop expert, but I’d say you’ve gone overboard on the CPU, and have a relatively underpowered 1080p GPU) for a high-refresh 1600p screen.

Any recommendations then ? My mate did the specs there. Nether of us have that much knowledge on these things. I know he just wants to future proof it as much as possible and play those games I mentioned

Hi !

For what i can see, some general advices :
- I'd improve the ssd (and if you can, I'd even go for one small fast boot drive (with windows and your software and an other slower drive for everything else - something like 500+1000 go)
-don't take norton, it's a pain in the [fill the blank with any word you want ;) ) to remove and windows defender do a great job nowadays
-lastly, take the dead pixel guarantee

Then,
To play to helldivers 2 at the native screen resolution, the 4060 will do the job, but the 4070 will be better ...
Don't get me wrong, it will be playable with the 4060, but it will struggle in the futur

So, if you're willing to pay more (yeah, sorry, 400£ more), you can go with that :

If you cannot pay for that much money (i can totally understand that), you may want to try the amd version of the ionico, it's cheaper and a little bit more balanced that the intel version. The 2 differences I saw are a smaller battery and less RGB ;)

Thanks for the advice. Got any other builds you can share ? My mates keen to get it sorted asap. He’s currently deployed and will be with out internet soon again. Want to try get something solid for him

My friend is looking for a decent gaming laptop. He’s got up to £1500 for it. Maybe a bit more but doesn’t want to go over 2k at all. He wants to play games like Helldivers 2, kingdom come 2 when it arrives, medieval dynasty, manor lords, total war games.

mainly want to concentrate on that stable fps and that it will be viable for a good few years.
He’s shipping out again tomorrow so wants to get it sorted before he leaves.

Any recommendations please and thank you would be great.

Hum, I think the two builds I proposed earlier are the best for what you said, budget, futur game and delay
The intel in first and the amd in second

Sorry, at the moment, it's the best i can think for you with the chassis proposed by pcs
