Last Minute Check on 3070 Mixed Use Build

Hi! Just wanted to do a last minute check on this build as it's in pre-production. I'm very much a PC newb but I tried to do my research to configure something that would suit my needs. My budget is about 3k euro, though it's currently under that at 2,859 but if there was something it desperately needed I could maybe push it a bit more. I have the Acer Nitro VG280k monitor which does 4K at 60hz and I believe 1080p at 144hz. I wanted something that could be great for ultra graphics on older games like Witcher 3 and keep up fairly well with newer titles and give me some room for even better performance when I upgrade my monitor in the future so I thought the 3070 would do well for that. I also do a lot of editing in the Adobe suite and Protools so went for 32gb of ram and went probably a bit overkill on the storage but I want room for lots of media files and games. my main concern is with cooling, I understand that liquid cooling is probably better than fans but the idea of water anywhere near components terrifies me and I'd be very intimated by the maintenance so I don't mind sacrificing some performance there to protect the components from me 😂 Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your thorough reply and for easing my worries about cooler matanience! I really appreciate you explaining the changes because I do want to try learn as I go 😂. I have a question about the wireless network card if you don't mind. The internet in my area is awful, max 4mbs for regular WiFi and 20mbs on a good day using 4G which we've had to use instead. Would that make the better network card useless or would that make the the most out of the bad situation?

The network card is about communicating with your router. It has no effect on the internet speed, which depends on the router's connection to the outside world. The better card will, however, give a better quality connection in your house and be less susceptible to interference as it uses a less congested part of the spectrum. It may also speed up transfers to other computers on the network.

If, however, you can go with a network cable, do that instead: it's ultimately a far better way of connecting and you can then drop the WiFi card entirely.

Another very silly follow up, I was looking at the measurements for the Corsair case compared to Coolmaster and the bigger size means it won't fit on the table I just bought for the pc 😅 (It's 2 inches too long). I'm not sure where that leaves me casewise, is there maybe a smaller cooler that would fit the Coolmaster?

Brilliant thank you so much for explaining!

I am not the most knowledgeable on cases. I am sure someone else will be along soon with suggestions.

The Cooler Master case you selected is fine, but not amazing. If I were you I'd actually do a "send in your own case" thing and order the Corsair 4000X: it's just a touch smaller than the 5000X but has all its many qualities. You can order it from Amazon for about £95 either in black or white.

The original case you selected would not allow me to select the Corsair 115i. You could go for the Corsair H100i Elite Cappelix instead. The 5800x does run hot, so I originally picked a bigger radiator. I am sure there are forum members with this CPU and cooler config who can give you their experience.
