Latfite build and quality advice

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to say, but if not then an admin or mod can remove it. I got a dell xps 13 due to it being lighter and having a smaller bezzel. It's a lot more expensive but wanted a nice screen and for it to be as light and small as possible, so far it's been great :)

Yeah, they are nice machines, my brother just got one. But like you say, expensive. I end up changing my laptop every couple of years, and just doesn't feel worth spending over £1k these days.

The single channel memory is about the only weakness of Lafite.

I considered this a weakness on the Lafité at first as well, really holding back the HD 520. But it seems to be the standard on thin 13'' models.
I haven't been able to find any other affordable offer which features dual-channel.

Yep, they all use single channel due to how thin they are. These types of machines aren't meant to be powerhouses :p Also single channel memory barely makes a difference in the real world, look at benchmarks etc :)

For general use it hardly matters, but there's definitely quite an impact on the integrated graphics. With just a single stick of 1600MHz the GPU is going to be screaming for bandwidth at times.
I've been very impressed with the potential Skylake (HD520/530 - Iris540/550) brings, but it needs to be paired with DDR4 to reach it.

Funny thing is, when you look at comparisons of DDR3 vs DDR4 for Skylake arch. in GPU tasks, you will find only about 10% diff. While it certainly is an improvement it is nothing if you compare dual-channel vs single-channel RAM, which is about 40%.
