Lockdown - What's Worth a Watch?

We love you Ukraine
In case anyone missed it, the first part of Season 3 of the Witcher dropped on Netflix last week (second part drops later this month)....it's the last chance to see Henry Cavill in, in my opinion, his best role and acting to date before Chris Hemsworth (of Thor fame) takes over for Season 4
Rumours of Cavill as the next Bond? I would personally love that, he's fantastic.

The show is bad though, it's pretty frustrating if you're a fan. Cavill is so good in it though and Jaskier is a fun side character. They did Yenn DIRTY

If you want to hate watch something check out Blood Origins which is honestly one of the worst things I've seen in years that's so bad it's genuinely entertaining to try and work out what they were thinking while making it

Watching The Wire for the first time at the minute. Blasted through the first season it's incredible

Must keep an eye out
Absolutely fantastic show. The Wire, The Sopranos, and Oz really are HBO’s finest work and have ushered in the golden age of epic TV shows we now live in.

Of course, Twin Peaks was the kickstarter for that format and was a decade ahead of them all… but people weren’t as receptive to a mysterious 3 foot 7 bloke dancing and speaking backwards as they were to cops, robbers, jailbirds and the mafia.

Their loss.

Astroid City - I'm not really recommending this as I'm not sure what audience I would recommend it to. I got about 40 minutes into it and gave up. It's really not my bag at all but just wanted to give a heads up to anyone going out to see it.

It feels a little like a musical episode of a sitcom, only it's a movie version of a theatrical play. As much as I think I understood the concept, there's nothing in the movie to draw me in. Everything is very one dimensional for me.

Curious if anyone else watches it and has a differing opinion. I was hoping something was about to dramatically change before I hit the 40 minute mark but absolutely nothing happened.

Watched it last night and, erm, not sure what to say about it.

Going in, I knew it was going to be a film about a film of a play, and it would be in the 'Wes Anderson' style, but everything felt too disjointed to track any coherent storyline (if there really was one).

I didn't get any sense of love story, or comedy, or drama...as any attempt to do one or the other (or multiple) seemed to negatively impact the other.

Also, lots of cameos from big names that felt like they were there just to show how much pulling power Wes has in Hollywood...and ScarJo got her bits out again.

But what do I know...it'll probably be lauded as a masterpiece like that stupid Twin Peaks 😬 :devilish::sneaky::unsure:

Usually a fan of Wes but this one fell flat for me, agreed it's a bit of disjointed mess

And if this is the only appeal

Check out Under The Skin, which is actually a good movie
Under the skin is a proper mind bender.

She actually took to the streets of Glasgow undercover and attempted to lure unsuspecting members of the public into her van. I'm not sure if these unwilling participants then became willing participants, or whether it was just a bit of practise to see the responses etc, but it was a very interesting angle to start the movie off with

It’s okay, Tony. Not everyone has the cognitive capacity to enjoy the work of David Lynch, it’s a minefield of strangeness and oblique imagery.
I was obviously too young the first time around, so I should probably give it another go using my more mature imagery discombobulation filters.
