Looking for a new Desktop

So the left hand cable is going to the power unit - I plugged it into the bottom left one available where it said SATA PERIPHERALS I believe.

The cable to the right is going to the motherboard

Is the drive seen in device manager?

Ok I moved the cable on the motherboard to the slot next to where it was before - and the drive has appeared now! :)

Not sure what difference that makes but if it works it works

I think on some motherboards if they are fitted with an M.2 drive in a particular slot then some of the SATA sockets on the motherboard are disabled as the M.2 i9s effectively using them

That’s a good point, if it’s installed in the secondary slot rather than the primary that would be the case, but that’s naughty of PCS if they have done that.

I got my machine with the SSD in the secondary slot. I think it was because it was the one that had the heatsink, whereas the primary slot doesn't. No idea if that would be the case here though.

On X570 is doesn’t really matter which slot it’s in, on B550 it makes quite a significant impact and should always be in the primary slot.
