Hi,
I am looking to buy a PC for editing videos (at the moment max 4k footage) using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Affects.
This is what I have put together after looking at endless websites and reviews. My max budget £2.5k. Could you please let me know your thoughts? I want this to last for years to come. The one thing I was not sure at all is the power supply is that enough for this build?

Thank you so much :)

Ha ha no £3 would not be a deal breaker but I am not sure if AMD is a good idea because Adobe CC seems to utilise Intel more. I did look at a few benchmark tests and Intel performs better. I noticed that you have selected 850W for the power supply. Would you say I should make that change on my initial build? Thank you Scott

Which benchmarks are you looking at? A 12 core, 24 thread AMD is going to demolish the 8 core 8 thread Intel at any sort of rendering or multi-core number crunching.

Intel is a very bad idea...... and look at my sig, filled with the bloody things haha. I'm not against any brand or anything like that, I've always been an Intel guy.... but they are done and dusted for at least a couple of years. Any Intel rig you buy now is likely to need a complete replacement to stay relevant in a year or 2... the AMD option will allow for multiple upgrade options/paths.

The 850W PSU is just a really excellent unit (The RXm). The 750w would be more than enough but it's, unfortunately, out of stock. No surprise as it's on every high end system I recommend haha.

If you're willing to consider the AMD I'm happy to go through any reservations you have if you can provide links to factual information (not forum he said/she said nonsense :D )

Definitely agree with Scott about AMD, not only are they much better but Intel have serious thermal issues and security problems and do not look like improving in the near future.

Hi Scott,
I had a quick look yesterday at it and you are right the AMD option is better for most of the applications I am looking to use apart from the After Affects. I have included some of the benchmarks I looked at.
I am thinking to go ahead with your recommended build but I am worried about the hydro CPU cooler. Are they really safe? Sorry for this question it's just that when I quickly look up online apparently there always is a risk of leak. By the way, I am super grateful for your help.

Thank you :)

I'm not sure what those benchmarks are or what they actually reflect but if you sat a 9900k next to a 3900X and rendered a 4k video, the 3900X would be significantly quicker.

With regards to the CPU cooler, I haven't recommended the Hydro. The Hydro models are REALLY old, of an old design and their quality control was sadly a little lacking. Thankfully Corsair learned from their mistakes quite early on and their quality control now is excellent.

You don't need to worry about it in all honesty. Any issues are so rare nowadays that you would need to be extremely unlucky. Faults are mostly out of the box so would be noticed straight away. There's no danger to your rig or anything like that as it's deionised water and coolant that's used.... it just causes an inconvenience more than anything. I had an old Corsair cooler in my last system for 8 or 9 years. I moved the cooler to my Fathers system and it's been going strong since. That's around 10 years from the one cooler.

I have the H115i RGB Platinum in my own rig. Highly recommend it, it's such a good cooler. It'll keep your boost clocks running really well and it's surprisingly quiet.
