Loud whining/whistling

Hi,

PC working well but this sound is driving me nuts. It's louder than it seems in the video, may want to turn the volume up.

I'm guessing this is coil whine, or is it a capacitor problem? I tried undervolting but didn't make any difference. Starts this whistling after a while no matter what load is on the system, I don't play demanding games.

I cant hear a whine on your video, sounds pretty quiet to me!

It's very faint, but it sounds more like a fan rubbing than coil whine to me.

yeah, that's what I thought as well, so I'd suggest checking no cables touching any of the fans, and if you can't see anything obvious then stop each fan individually so you can determine which one is causing the problem

Ok so I looked into this a bit more. The sound seemed to be coming from the PSU rather than the GPU. So I looked for issues with the Corsair 550W and found a thread on Tom's Hardware with two video files. They both sound very similar to the sound from my system, especially this one sounds exactly like it -

So they seem to think it's a faulty or loose bearing in the fan that makes the whistling noise as the fan repeatedly spins up and then stops.

Is there a way to fix this? I don't mind some noise but this screeching is like nails on a blackboard. Should I put a ticket in to replace the PSU? I honestly want to avoid having it replaced if I can simply tighten something and viola or whatever but at the same time I don't really know what I'm doing.

I would personally ask for a replacement, if it is bad bearings then there's not anything you can do without taking the PSU apart and replacing the fan which is very much a no no really.

But make sure there are no cables or anything rubbing against it as it spins as that could make the sound also.
