hi, im not tech minded, so be gentle with me please, lol.
so as the title suggests, im low on space. i play a few versions of football manager, and a couple of fishing games. but other than that, im not a gamer. i googled how to put the games on a flash drive, and an old hard drive i had. they work ok, but not great. and i cant seem to get downloaded graphics to work, unless they stay in the C drive folder, which kinda defeats the object. is this solvable, or do i need a gaming laptop?

TIA

No, you won't be able to play games off external media or at least not well, especially for database driven stuff like Football manager.

You need them on the C drive or a dedicated SATA SSD for games.

You can find out what's taking up your space on your c drive with TreeSize (free) and then delete what you need to or move it.

Bear in mind things like OneDrive etc will default to the C drive, any data you want moved to the secondary drive.

thanks for your help and keeping it simple. i tried treesize, and it basically confirmed what i already thought. its the games in the documents folder. so i need a gaming laptop then? my current one is a pc specialist built one, a few years old now, but runs ok. i could use another for games, and keep the current for knocking up documents, and using the net. good idea or not?

That's a tiny drive, you're only going to be able to fit one modern game on there, maybe two older ones, that's without factoring in storage of any kind.

You could just replace the drive with a larger one. They don't cost much. 500Gb would be worlds better.

But that laptop doesn't have a graphics card, only on board, so wouldn't be able to handle any gaming.

No, grhics card is part of the chassis design, it's not something you can fit in afterwards. Laptops aren't upgradeable in that respect, you'd need to buy a proper gaming laptop.

If it's any kind of graphical game, then yes. Football manager can be played simply with the database so isn't really a game as such in that respect.
