Tis free, and a very useful program, you need virtual-dub after to compress and re-encode that horrid fraps format though :p This is why im waiting for badaboom to be fermi compatible because it converts fraps format..

I've checked several times, and every time I have, you have to pay for a licence. the only version I have ever seen that is free, is the basic watermarked version with limited functionality.

Looks like it still costs $37 :( http://www.fraps.com/buy.php

I'm curious as to where you managed to download it for free though, send me a link to the site if it is indeed free (and legal)

no.

imagine i download a free piece of software. free to use. free for life.

then they release a new piece of software that is no longer free of charge.

Is everyone that is still using the free version now breaking the law ?

Ohh also. all free versions are limited to a 30 second recording time. Meaning you have to take lots of 30 second vids and edit them all together.

IMHO buy it. the product is great !
