Monitor Advice

I'd definitely go for the 3000MHz if you can get the 115i then, 3000MHz compared to 3200MHz would be not noticeable, and a better cooler which is...better!

I've got the RGB ones, they look good but remember that you'd be looking at your screen, not the PC all the time ;) Smack some RGB LED strips in there and you'll be fine!

hmm thats true. the extra 200mhz makes no difference then? if its 32gb then sounds like it wouldnt be. thoughts?

so i went for the 115i plat cooler and went down to 16gb 3600mhz
felt that 32gb ram was way overkill.

I've gone with 32GB, it might be overkill but I've just done it simply for future proofing (and for the new flight simulator ;) ). Most people would recommend 16GB but I'm looking to carry the 32GB onto my next build after this one in many years to come. I'm in your boat, two monitors (60Hz 4K and 165Hz 1440p), and it's rocking smoothly :)

is 32gb overkill if not using it for much editing and mostly gaming etc with 2 screens?

Ram will be fine for gaming only. On the editing side, what type are you doing? Photos, videos or both? As an example, Lightroom and photoshop will make use of the 32gb Ram, especially if you're using lots of layers in your editing process.

mostly low res video editing and even thats not very often. Just wondering if the 16GB 3600MHZ is future proof compared to the 32GB 3200MHZ vengeance RGB PRO? still debating between the 2. I am using 2 high res screens however choosing the 32gb RGB PRO ram I would have to sacrifice the better CPU cooler

Based on what you've said, you're trying to make two decisions. 1) 16gb vs 32gb and; 2) 3200mhz vs. 3600mhz. I believe conundrum two is irrelevant. You won't notice too much difference, if any. On option one, if you are going to video edit, i think you'd be better off with 32gb, but only you know how often and how heavy your usage is going to be. I do a reasonable amount of lightroom and photoshop work and I am glad I went with 32gb, if that helps?

Unfortunately I can't answer the third variable re: your cooler as I just don't have the knowledge to tell you. Perhaps @SpyderTracks @Nursemorph or @Scott can jump in at this point...

Couple of questions.

What monitors are you actually pairing with this?
I get you say budget isnt an issue, so the expense isnt a worry, but to me that still doesnt mean just throw money away at something that sounds good but you are never actually getting benefit from. If the monitors are not 4K or you are not doing VR, you are literally throwing money away at the 2080Ti and the 3900X.

Is the aim to have a system that you can upgrade, you mention the GPU when the new 3000's come out, are you also aware that the new chipssets are due too? 4000 series AMD are expected in autumn as well.
So, do you need it now, or are you able to wait a few months and buy a all-new system then?

The M.2 will be the main operating system drive, have you looked at the firecuda? The 1Tb and 2Tb ones are much faster than the samsung, its only if you get the 500Gb samsung that it outperforms the 500Gb Firecuda

I see a few spots that you can trim the spec to actually get a better balanced machine, also, if using the Corsair coolers, things like the Arctic paste are pointless (coolers come with their own, and the corsair stuff is equal if not better than the Arctic).

The most important consideration here is the monitors though, 1080p will be a massive bottle neck on the machine you list, just totally incapable of displaying what the machine can put out. Sounds like you have HD screens (which is 1080p) not QHD (1440p) or 4K. Refresh rate is also important, you will want 144MHz to be able to display higher framerates.

Soundcards are pointless unless you have VERY high quality speakers (proper audiophile grade) otherwise the onboard sound is going to perform just as well due to the massive improvements its made (even with my build, I havent ordered one, I will get it first and test sound out, then buy SoundBlaster Zx if needed, which is probably one of the best ones on the market despite the lower price)

As you have mentioned theres an existing build, I assume you will be dropping it so wont be using the licence on it? So you can transfer that over to the new system too and save money there. No point in two licences if one is sat in the bin.

With the view of upgrading the GPU, and having chosen a motherboard that can have the CPU updated (should support AMD 4000 series) and considering what you actually use if for, I would recommend doing this build instead, and you can then upgrade to the higher GPU and CPU as time goes by, but without a 1440p monitor is is still pointless going over a 1660Ti GPU (completely pointless).

Its still a VERY powerful machine, will run very high spec/ultra on pretty much anything on a 1440p 144Mhz and I would imagine VR too (although not max settings). You then buy the new GPU and stick that in and one of the 4000's CPU's and pop that in... you've got a machine that would do 4K in its sleep...

I get not being restricted on budget, but burning cash just because you can is not a good call, especially if the extra potential performance you are buying is inaccessable because of monitor restrictions. Unless you intend on going out and buying a 4K monitor or a 1440p monitor with 165Hz refresh or more... the 2080ti is going to be sat half idle the whole time, even with a 1440p its gonna be pretty comfortable with lots more to give.

Why would you have to sacrifice the cooler?
(Edit - Ive seen...its not the 32Gb thats restricting it, its the RGB as the cards are taller)

The new thread is just confusing and repeating information posted before. To the op, if you can try and keep all your queries in the one thread it will allow everyone to be aware of previous advice given.

The Cooler and RAM were already covered previously. It was also mentioned that there were areas in your build that weren't ideal (Soundcard stands out as a really obvious one). For editing at any sort of mid/high level you will want a scratch drive, especially if you are editing over 2k.

If you had just straight up asked for advice to begin with we could have covered all the niggles but you seemed fairly set on your build and were only requesting monitor advice previously. We are more than happy to help you get the bang for buck from your budget but you need to be clear in your usage including monitor, softwares and usage.

Did you decide on one of the monitors suggested previously?

I bought the ultra wide monitor in the end.

I made a few tweaks to the build I downgraded to the 2070 Super after realising that it seemed a waste to grab the 2080ti when i will for sure be getting the 3000 series when they are released. I Also changed the drives to what Nurse had advised above:

1st Storage Drive
6TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 5400RPM, 256MB CACHE
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 520 GEN 4 PCIe NVMe (up to 5000MB/R, 4400MB/W)

I'd have tried to get a G9 instead

2070 isn't enough for that monitor, would need a 2080 Super at minimum IMO, 2080Ti or next gen would be better suited.

I wouldn't buy the 2070S for a month or 2 personally, it's a lot of cash to waste. Even selling it on wouldn't really be worthwhile IMO. It's doable of course, it's only money :D
