Motherboard For Ryzen 9 5950X

Hi peeps,
I am looking to spec a decent motherboard for the Ryzen 9 5950X. Desktop will be a decent allrounder for Video editing/ Gaming/ 3D design. My overall budget is £4K so will have 32 or 64GB of RAM. My preference for graphics card is Geforce 3090 (when it is available)
I get a bit confused with motherboards as there seems to be so much choice, Do the more expensive ones give better performance? Also what power supply will work better 750W or 850W.
Sorry for all the questions but google can only take me so far....

Hero is the most suitable option for the 5950X but the STRIX will do if it's unavailable.

I would be opting for a 1000W RMx PSU for those options.

Be sure to get a decent case and the H115i cooler on there too.

Thanks for the reply, It looks like the HERO is greyed out on the PCS website so probably not available. Would I be compromising with the ROG STRIX X570-F or would the performance be pretty much the same?

The Crosshair has the best VRM and heat sinks from the available options so is the one to choose to help avoid any thermal throttling. The ROG Strix is still very good but there's a possibility that it might struggle under certain conditions.

Your best bet would be to post the spec you're thinking about onto this thread and then we can advise accordingly and suggest tweaks. If you let us know the make and model of monitor you'll be using, that would also be very handy.

The last I looked I think it was May that it was due in. Not sure what the queue is like for the 5950X & 3090 combo but I'm sure it would be a couple of weeks. May be worthwhile building with the STRIX and upgrading to the HERO when it is available on the configurator. It would mean checking daily.

With regards to performance, it depends on your uses. If you're hammering multi-core usage then the Hero will allow more of an overhead in voltage regulation and thus should be more able to stabilise a higher frequency. The STRIX won't cause any issues at all but it might be a few performance points down in sustained load scenarios.

I always recommend holding out for a Hero where you can
