Motherboard upgrade question

I bought a new PC from here a few years ago, I asked no end of questions as it was my first new build and wanted it to be right - it was and haven’t had a single problem with it. The only thing missing which I mentioned at the time was there was no thunderbolt option on motherboards available.

Now I’m seeing there are B660 motherboards by ASUS which have a type c built in, although not available to choose from on this website. My question is, is it even possible to change from my current motherboard to a B660? I’m assuming not, or if it is it will be costly given I have a m2 drive on it.

The motherboards fit a "socket" type which only fits a few generations of processor for Intel, for AMD it's a few more.

Also, USB C isn't the same as thunderbolt, they're different things although use the same connector.

B660 is Intel, so only fits 12th and upcoming 13th Gen processors.

Oh ok, sounds like I'd need a whole new computer just to get a Thunderbolt port built in then :(

You can often get a PCIe Thunderbolt add in card.

Can you post your full specs from the order page?
Yeah I've got the ASUS ThunderboltEX 3-TR. I installed it on my current B550-PLUS after I received the computer. But its been acting up, I don't think its compatible with Windows 11 or the Audio device I use with it isn't, one or the other. I've rolled back to Windows 10 and all is ok, I'll probably just stay put on this for the foreseeable.

Can you just copy and paste from the order page as it will contain any updates.
It doesn't - my order page is a mess and contains lots of credit notes and sub orders as I was changing the initial setup quite a bit. What is on that link is my setup
