VR confirmed!

I can't even forum explain how excited I am about this! This is going to be a complete game changer IMO.

How is everyone else feeling about performance after seeing videos of the beta? I’ll be honest I’m slightly concerned after seeing a few, and seeing frames drop fairly low, even running a 2080ti.

Obviously it was always going to be heavy and I’ve heard frames can drop a little bit when recording as well? I’m just glad I changed my spec to 2080s.

I've not watched it, but if it's a beta then it hasnt been fully tested nor optimised for general release, so i wouldnt pay much attention to it. Wait for the release, give it a few days for the videos to pop up on YouTube and then make your mind up.

Deffo interested...... Although i have promised myself that I must not buy anymore PC trinkets!

I wonder if my R5-3600XT on a B450 board c/w an RX-5700XT will be able to run 1080p at Ultra settings?
To be honest, even if the frames drop at those settings, apparently the graphical difference between Ultra and High is very low and the performance difference is noticeable. That’s the same going from 4K to 1440p, the ‘sweet spot’ for performance and graphics seems to be high settings at 1440p

Obviously, as I was told previously, this could change between now and release as it’s still only the beta

I don't have any real flying experience at all and I found FSX very rewarding, especially once you start getting into the proper techniques involved in flying a commercial jet :D

The tutorials take you through it all step by step so I can only imagine FS2020 will be exactly the same :)

While I will be buying MSFS and eventually (once we move house) tee it up with new monitor and gfx card, I am also closely watching DCS.

not sure if many here play DCS, however they are introducing improvements, from an interview with CEO of Eagle D.., this includes new Gfx engine, more use of modern processors and gfx cards, cores, multithreading etc.

I like route plotting and all the other stuff with MS, however it’s equally as good to have a Sim that has Fox 3 etc.

Also... I've just realised I have a problem...

I have very little desk space left for any peripherals and I'm left-handed so 99% of modern joysticks don't like me. Would I be laughed out of the room by playing with an Xbox controller? 😬

You can get a flight stick for left handed use no bother, in fact my setup is ambidextrous. I'm fairly certain I couldn't use a gamepad for proper flight controls to be honest. Most of the manipulation is in the trim values and autopilot settings. There's very little ACTUAL flying involved believe it or not.

Prior to getting the hottas with 3 squillion buttons I was limited to the keyboard for the most part.

This is an ambidextrous whatsit apparently:

Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS HOTAS

The stick certainly is, they almost all are catered for left and right handed players.

The problem is always the throttle unfortunately, you would struggle to use the controls with your pinkie I imagine :D

There are all in one flight sticks that have a small throttle on them. That sort of stick would be a good buy for a first time trial of the game etc.

With all that being said..... given the minimal input required in the games.... there's really no reason why the non-dominant hand couldn't be used to control the flightstick. I could happily fly left handed or right handed. The throttle control is probably more important to be honest.

You possess a greater amount of ambidextrousness than myself. I choose to drive an automatic these days so I can keep my left hand on the wheel (and also so I can use my flappy paddle shifters, I love them). Ah, to live in Europe or America where they drive on the right side of the road... :D

EDIT - is ambidextrousness a word or I have made that up? Ambidextrosity? Ambidextrability?

A friend of mine let me drive his BMW with paddle shifts, I instantly went into game mode and totally forgot I was actually driving on real roads with real other cars.... he asked me to pull over after about 1 minute :ROFLMAO:

Never again..... I just can't switch between game mode and reality!

Thought I'd share this, really good article on the upcoming release....

I think it's fair to say, I've never seen such photo-realistic in game rendering.... ever. It really is quite stunning!

Honestly buzzing for this, really looking forward to flying over the South West and seeing how accurate it is. I know obviously and it's been mentioned on many of the pre-release reviews that some of the building data isnt even close but you'd like to think that they have the larger/main buildings and streets in place.

Fully expecting it to be permanently raining down here though on the sim!! They say it's uber realistic!

Thanks for the link, that was a really interesting read. I’ve got a friend who’s really into X-Plane and he’s concerned that MSFS20 is going to be more style than substance. Saying that, he’s still preordered the premium deluxe edition 😆
