My 7 months old Optimus IV laptop was stolen yesterday from my house in Dublin. Help?

It is only right to say the PC Specialist people have offered me a discount, not as much as I was hoping for but in fairness to them it proves they are a good company that they even considered it. Still gutted and still dont know if ill be able get one through here as the next laptop will definitely be a lower spec model than the one i had.

That's good news, with the fast track you should get your new laptop very soon

I was joking, you can post what you want .. within the rules

Would there be any chance i could get a laptop replacement without the power supply? It would save me an extra £23 which i know isnt much in the grand scheme of things but it could really help me out?

I have a suggestion. A couple of posters have offered to contribute so I wondered whether you'd want to open a PayPal account (or similar) and post the account name or id on here. That way those who want to contribute to your replacement can do so quite easily. I think you'll find it worth more than the £23 cost of the power supply. ;)

I am so incredibly grateful for those offers but id feel extremely guilty taking it from ye. I cant explain why really. Has anyone ever done this type of thing before? They cant post a laptop without the power supply anyway so there goes that idea out the window.

Edit*** I hope that doesn't sound ungrateful. I am genuinely appreciative of everyone who replied to this thread, it helped just typing about it to get it off my chest.

Why not do as ubuysa suggests and set up the Pay Pal account then see what happens. Then later on when things get better for you donate the amount that is collected to your favourite charity. That way its a win win situation!

Edit: This tenner is burning a hole in my pocket :D

Desperate times call for desperate measures and all that guys. I wont be able to afford a new laptop on my own steam for a few months with work and that so if anyone would like to make a donation there is no way i can express how grateful i actually would be. If i ever got the opportunity to return the favour, let me assure you it would be returned ten fold.

Here is the link to a paypal account i just created called "KellyCorp" (Trademark pending)

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=LTWSKJNWGEK9E

If i dont even make 1 € or £ i dont mind. I am just gonna take the chance. I will pass on your good will as soon as i can.

Thank you again from a somewhat cheered up (former) gamer.

Hi lads, just want to say thanks so much for their contributions. Generosity is alive and well in 2013, i am going to PM my email address to those who contributed so that if anything like this comes up again ill happily contribute to that.

Seriously lads, thank you very very much.

I have the serial number etc from the side of the box. I just took a pic and attached it, I presume that's the same serial number as on the actual laptop?

Another reason to use Bitlocker or Truecrypt on your machine. Sorry it doesn't help in this situation (hindsight is a wonderful thing) but although your laptop would still be nicked, your data would be 100% safe

I know, I don't know how many times I have said "If only I had" in the last few days. I dropped the serial number and some pictures and a description of the laptop to my local Garda (Police) station last night that will be uploaded to their internal system so if the ever did recover the laptop it would flash up when the serial number was entered that it is mine.

I was given an 8.5% chance of ever recovering it. So not much good to me really but still at least there is some small chance, I thought I had found it online here

[Edit by Rakk: I realise that you only showing a machine you thought to be yours, but please don't post links to where PC's/laptops (even if they are old PCS ones) are being sold]

but i was talking to the seller and he is 100% legit.

Can you BELIEVE IT! I also had my PC stolen! What are the odds of that?! I'm setting up a PayPal account straight away so feel free to send your donations. Nothing under a tenner cheers ;)

Just kidding mate, sorry to hear the bad news! A minutes silence for your fallen lappy :)

Now i feel guilty again, i haven't withdrawn that money yet so if anyone does want it back i am happy to return it. I know you are only taking the pee, but i have to offer returning the donations. I am still uneasy about it.
