My New Valeon!

Hey folks.

I've had my new Valeon since the end of April, and I must say that I'm a very happy camper! My last laptop was an Asus ROG Strix (i7 7700HQ, GTX 1070), and while it still worked fine, it was starting to show its age performance-wise.

It took me a while to scrounge together the funds to order the Valeon with the specs I wanted. This is what I got:
CPU - Ryzen 9 5900HX
RAM - 32GB 2966MHz Corsair
GPU - RTX 3080 16GB
SSD - Corsair MP400 1TB
Wireless - Gigabit LAN & Killer Wi-fi 6 AX1650
Screen - 17" QHD

This is one beast of a laptop! I've never used anything this impressive before. It's so responsive and gaming is a real pleasure on this thing. It does run quite hot, but given that this is a Ryzen machine, that wasn't unexpected. I have an external cooling solution which definitely helps.

As this is essentially a desktop replacement (space is an issue in my flat), the smallish battery doesn't bother me. And any concerns about the central hinge have, so far, proved to be unfounded. It feels very sturdy and secure, although I suppose time will ultimately tell on that one.

Including an upgraded warranty, 1 year's dead pixel protection and 3 day build time, the Valeon cost me around £2200. I wouldn't have been able to get this spec anywhere else for the same money.

I'm delighted with the laptop and with the service from PCS so far. The Valeon is a great buy.

Excellent. Out of interest what is that cooling pad you are using?

Well spotted - it is indeed the Klim Cyclone. It's a decent cooling pad, but I had to return it as the big fan started making this awful grinding noise. I've now got one of those hot air extractors (it covers a side vent and sucks out heat generated by the internal components), which I find works better.
