Hi,

I've been a long-time ThinkPad user, not least because the keyboard layout is 👌

Recently noticed the introduction of the 14" Initia which happens to share a key similarity:

There are PgUp/PgDn (Home/End) keys right above the / arrow keys!

Is there a particular name for this exact keyboard layout?

Thanks.

Keyboards tend to be different on most laptops, they're respaced to suit that particular chassis.

The only similarity is the QWERTY layout of the lettering and numbers, all the rest of the keys kind of squeeze wherever they can.

Thanks for the prompt response, much appreciated!

That's true, some laptops make some small deviations from the usual QWERTY. However, I don't think I've ever seen PgUp/PgDn immediately above the / arrow keys anywhere other than ThinkPads. That's why I thought there might be a specific name for this layout.

On a related note, do you happen to know if there is support for precision touchpad drivers? This includes functionality such as:
  • - 3-finger gestures
  • - 4-finger gestures
  • - Multi-tasking app
  • - Windows switching
  • - Media interactivity

Most laptops these days support most gestures, but that chassis is literally brand new, we haven't had anyone posting a review as yet, to be completely sure, I'd recommend using the webchat found in the bottom right of the footer HERE (only shows on desktop browsers, won't work on mobile or tablet).

Ah, so the chassis model number of that one is Clevo NL41LU2, you may be able to find review if you search that chassis number.

On a quick search, I couldn't find anything, I do think it's literally just hit the market.

Usually the ones to do really thorough reviews including teardowns are NoteBookCheck, a sample review here of a different chassis:

They're normally one of the first to go live with a review especially with Clevo laptops.

I'm a big fan of notebookcheck reviews as well, and many thanks for sharing the ID for Clevo NL41LU2 ID.

Hope there might be more reviews going forward as it looks like a great option, particularly for home/office-use.

I did, however, only just notice that it lacks Thunderbolt 3. So no option for eGPUs. 😢

Yeah, you have to go up to the Lafite for thunderbolt:
