What monitor will you be pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

What's the build for?

What's your maximum budget?

Its for gaming.

going with ACER PREDATOR XB271 27"
144hz,

Budget is around 2000$
/1600£ but less can do just fine. As long as I can push the graphics card? What do you think

There's no benefit to the 3080 for that monitor, a 3060ti would be far more suitable. The 3080 will offer no improvement over the 3060ti as the monitor is the bottleneck.

The 3060ti is due out next month near the release of the 3070.

what monitor should i get instead for that card?
You'd need over £1k for the monitor alone, something like this for superwide:

Or this for 4k 144Hz:

I was looking forward to adding the new card - due to it being vastly better than the current, at similar pricing.

Lets say hypo that i wait for the 3060/ti - is the current build to powerful for that card? or just right

The motherboard is not going to be of any benefit, the X570 Strix would be more than ample, it's got a very slow SSD, an M2 would make more sense, no need for the thermal paste as the cooler comes pre applied, and you'd want the next wifi card up from that one for better modern connectivity support and speeds. But other than that, it's fine.

The 3070 is a 4k 144Hz card, so yes, you'd need a very expensive monitor to use it, otherwise, you'll only use about half the power of the card, just a waste of money.

Couple of small alterations to your spec....changed the motherboard, put in a much quicker primary drive, given more storage, added in a better Wi-Fi card:

Then add in the appropriate GPU
Appropriate GPU = RTX 3060/ti or another current one? I don't mind waiting - i already bought the asus monitor - so i'm kinda just waiting for the bulid to be finished - then order it. So if its better to wait for 3060 - then i order the build - and then the GPU separately

I would get the 3060ti, think it will be worth it over the standard 3060.

last Q:
ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING or STRIX?

also i want to keep 1 ssd - right?

thank you everyone! i tried calling - but no answer.. now i can order in peace :))

Wait for the 3060Ti (assuming it comes out the same time)...pointless going for a current card as the performance increase from all the new cards for very little extra money makes buying a current card a waste
Especially the performance increase will full Ray Tracing enabled, it's around a 10% performance hit to enable full RT on 3000 series cards, vs about 60% hit on 2000 series cards, plus factor in how expensive the 2000 series cards are, I'd definitely wait for the 3060ti.

thats what i thought.

What about primary drive:

SSD right?

Personally, if you've got the cash, I'd go for the Strix, reason being is it has more internal USB headers which you'll need if matching it with the H100i Platinum, otherwise you'll find either the bluetooth or the H100i can't be plugged in.
