A friend is building a pc for his son it doesn't need to be anything fancy but he wants to be able to play games like warzone roughly in the 800-1000 range.

Would that budget include a monitor, and what monitor specs are they after?
Makes a big difference to what spec is best suited.

Do they have a rough starting build? (Should point out that it would need to be a PCS build, forums dont alllow for competitors. If its a home build then somewhere like TomsHardware is a good shout. Its an open forum and pretty good)

With the way prices are at the moment assuming your friend has a monitor, keyboard etc (or a separate budget for them), then you really need to add another £200 - £300 to the top end of that budget

This ^ Prices are super expensive because supply is low and demand is high. Nvidia is also half way through their card release so there aren't any real budget cards out. That said the 3060 releases tomorrow (25th) and there's rumoured to be a 3050 later this year. I'd highly recommend waiting for them and increasing the budget. As prices hopefully fall, they'll get a lot more for their money in a few months time

Whats the monitor spec?
GPU needs to be a suitable match to run it properly.

With £1000 because of prices being so high right now the best you’ll get is a 1650 build, possibly 1660 but that alongside most other GTX GPUs are out of stock right now.

144hz cant remember what brand like i said in a prior message the peripherals are not a problem.
Do you know the resolution? brand isnt really important, more resolution and refresh.
Those two factors are very important when picking a GPU

You stil havent mentioned if this is something they are doing through PCS or a homebuild? Is it not possible for your friend to join the forums themselves? Would be far easier than you acting as a go-between

If they have monitor etc already, does that also mean they have a copy of Win 10 they can transfer to it from an old/retiring system? And storage drives that are availble to switch over to it as well? I'd really want to scavenge as much as possible to try and free up cash to go into the components more.

A (VERY)_ rough starting point... unfortunately theres no stock in till mid march for things like the 1650/S or 1660/S GPU's which would drop more than £100 off the price. But this is a build that has a fairly decent core so you should also be able to upgrade further down the line

The budget is pretty restrictive though.
