Need help for upgrading to SSD for Recoil Series: 15.6" Matte

So I posted a few months back about my laptop being too slow and concluded that it was needing upgraded to an SSD to handle the performance correctly. (Spec below)

So I bought the 500GB 970 Evo plus NVMe M.2, checked that it was compatible with the laptop first of course.

Now the annoying part...I'd taken out 17 screws...but the one at the bottom just won't budge. It seems that it was a bit worn compared to the others originally but with a full set of screw heads I can't seem to get it...the only thing standing in my way of installing my drive :(

I've searched YouTube/Google etc to try find someone taking this laptop apart but found no joy. I'm trying to avoid the money/prolonged time of sending it back to pc specialist for 1 screw to come out...is there any tips or suggestions anyone has? I've become extremely frustrated as you can probably tell haha

That screw will never be undone, the head is trashed. If it were mine I'd probably try drilling the head of the screw off and just leave that screw headless. With 17 other screws it's probably not that vital......

I'm assuming the laptop is out of warranty??

Yeah I think it has about a week or 2 left...but I think the hassle of sending it back for a few weeks and paying postage etc for the sake of 1 screw probably isn't worth it 🤣

I think that's probably what I'll do! Try using a screw extracting tool and just buying a new screw for it. Not sure if this is something that happens to a lot of people, just seemed strange for 1 screw to be knackered when I've not touched anything since buying it. Didn't even think to check about the screws at the time....lesson learnt! Thanks for the feedback, appreciated as always!

If you're saying it was shipped from PCS with that screw head trashed then I would complain to PCS sharpish (before the warranty expires). That's bad workmanship on the part of the builder and there's no point in PCS promoting their open case policy if you can't open it!
