New 3900/3080 build

I've always built machines that have been very 'average'. I've had an i5-4670k since they came out.

Feedback appreciated, still in pre-production so it can be changed if I've really screwed the pooch!

Edit: Should specify that I'll be using this for gaming, streaming, music production (DAWs, amp sims etc) as well as some limited video editing.

I appreciate it's a little overkill but I've had a really up and down 12/18 months and even though I've probably gone a little overboard I'm very excited. Debated waiting for the 3rd Gen Zen from AMD but that would mean upgrading the mobo as well as the X-570F doesn't support 3rd Gen from what I've read and I pretty much maxed the budget!

Are you sure the X-570F doesn't support AMD Zen3? I'm pretty sure it does.

I would highly recommend waiting at least until 8th Oct to see what AMD announces before ordering.

I would definitely hold off if I were you. If you have ordered the 3080 separately there may be nothing stopping the build from rattling through the stages. Otherwise you would be able to upgrade during the waiting process.

For the RAM I would opt for 2x16GB 3200Mhz over the 4x8GB 3600
Secondary storage I would probably have a 2nd M2 Drive
For the cooler you want the H115i RGB Platinum, the PRO isn't the best
I would always opt for the silver warranty personally, it's only £5 and covers returns for a year should you need them.

Steve, you're right it does support Gen 3.

Scott, thanks I'll take a look at changing that - I assume because it's 2x16GB and not 4x8 despite the higher clock speed?
A second M2 drive is out of budget unfortunately.

Scott, I am also wondering why it's better to go with the 3200 memory instead of the 3600.

The main reason is you only use 2 slots with 2x16. Less stress on the memory controller and leaves you the option of upgrading to 64GB down the line also (unlikely to be required but nice to have).

As much as the numbers look better, the actual latency of the offerings from PCS are the same as the CL of the 3200 is less than that of the 3600. They are effectively equal in actual throughput :)

It's now in the build queue! Excited to see what Zen 3 comes up with but it's good to know that I can drop it into my mobo in several years time!
