New 5800X, 6800XT and G9 built for flight sim

I thought I would outline my order, changes and experience.

I was desperate for a new PC and I got the green light from the bride. Knowing nothing about modern setups I did lots of reading, learned pretty much nothing and drove myself to distraction. Anyone who can remember teletext holidays, like that, but worse.

Anyway, I found PC specialist, looked on the forums, sought advice, received continual and ongoing fantastic advice and ended up with a spec that, I ordered.

The original order included a 5900X and a 3080 gpu (I actually upped the original spec that I landed on). I watched the forums and read some more and it was clear to me the 3080 is just a nightmare in terms of availability, not sure so much about the 5900x? I got to 29 days which, I know is not long compared to lots and needed to make a decision. I looked at changing specs and what may be in stock, I took the plunge and changed to a 5800X and 6800XT.

It went into build the next day. 4 days later I had my machine. And what a machine.

So........its the 5800X, 6800XT, 32 gig if 3600 RAM, 850 power supply, corsair cooler and couple of M2 drives and a HDD.

After much debate I also purchased a G9.

It is absolutely nailing Flight Sim 2020, I have EVERYTHING maxed, airport add ons installed, run it on VATSIM, the fly by wire a320 neo, liveries etc etc. Ive thrown everything I can at it and its smooth as butter. Ive tested at New York (usually kills the best of pc's), London / Heathrow, Tokyo, the lot. It's insane how good it is.

And here it is. I'd just note that as its located where it is, it does have proper ventilation in the cupboard due to my modifications and fitting of a fan to the cupboard!

Hope that helps in some way. I am over the moon with PC Specialist, the machine, the experience and the help of people on here. Thank you.

Congrats on the new PC and what an incredible setup, sounds like a beast as MSFS! Very happy to hear how great your experience with PCS was too. Enjoy it as I'm sure you will and just know you're making me and I'm sure many others very jealous 😂

Looks amazing! Always enjoy a bit of narrative instead of just a pic of a (always very nice) pc.

Bravo on the build as a whole, you’ve selected really well, I think it’s about the perfect setup to run FS2020, really pleased you’re enjoying it!!!

This may seems shocking but.....it's even worse now  I moved the 2 main stereo speakers from on the desk (to give the room for the TV) and needed new cabling so I now have much thicker cables not only under the desk (although some is hidden by the cable tidy running the length of the desk) but also up and around the door frame next to the desk :ROFLMAO:

Let me know when all sorted and you've added a new pic... you'll be a contender for Agent Cooper's Amazing Spaces.
Sorry its took a little while, cables all tidy now with no loose stragglers. I hope this meets the approval of the board.

Also attached the beauty of the G9, this rig and FS2020.

It's incredible, the immersion is something else. The peripheral vision makes such a difference too. The image quality is superb.

You also get a tan when you've been sat there for a while, bit like Rodney that time on Only Fools and Horses! Flip side you save on heating bills.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

We've recommended the G9 a lot to flight simmers exactly for the peripheral vision, it's really nice it's paying off (y)

@StuRan... so you've got your pedals for Flight Sim, we can all see that. But what else are you using to control it? Couldn't see a flight stick on display anywhere and I'm assuming you're not some kind of insane masochist who'd attempt to use the keyboard.

Sorry for delay, household building works......

Its a good question and a bit of a long story. Ive been trying to simplify things. On my old machine with FS9 i had the saitek yoke and 2 sets of throttles (some set up as tiller, flaps etc). I also had (well still do its just not compatible) the VRinsight mode control panel and CDUII. Brilliant bits of kit, shocking software. At present I have the thrustmaster tca airbus stick and tca throttles. The latter is a pain in the backside to setup and still not right. Ill get some shots in the coming days.

That's some serious kit there!
