Bit of late night (early morning?) tinkering because I can't sleep lol.
Pleased to say I've sorted the issue with the rear fan. Think I understand the Nexus setup now. Had to play around in BIOS - the auto calibrate thing proved to me the rear fan can be regulated because I could hear it revving up and down. With the rear fan rewired to sit in the three pin side of the hub, it now responds to and works in tandem with the CPU speed. Problem I had earlier was despite rewiring it, the CPU had been set to DC in BIOS so the case fans were actually louder than ever! Changing the CPU back to PWM and specifically to silent mode directly affects the three pin fans which respond in voltage/rotation, dropping really significantly. On CPU silent the case fans are inaudible. Great!
(Hopefully this post can help any others with the Fractal in future)
Only issue now is the lingering one with the AIO but glad to have the other hub situation sorted.
