I have been doing a bit of research and asked a few questions to the good people on this forums and i'm still in 2 minds do i get the 3950x or the 3900xt, my budget is 4k and the only thing i will not change is the 3090 (i won't change my mind on that) i also want a case with the best air flow possible. Idea's?

Am not trying to change your mind but just curious: Why are you so set on using a non-gaming graphics card for a gaming system?

I want 4k, 120 FPS locked, max settings for a good number of years i was meant to go travelling this year and that got cancelled because of covid, i thought i'd treat myself tbh.

I would hold off on the reviews as the 3090 isn't really aimed at gaming. It may not net you what you are looking for. That's not to say the 3080 will either, but it'll give you £800 to put towards a solution next year (3080Ti maybe).

Other than that. I would opt for the 3800XT or possibly the 3900XT for the chip with gaming in mind. If you're not one for FS2020 or turn based games then I would probably stick with the 3800XT as you'll likely get a higher all core clock.

I think i will hold off until at least Feb/March next year, probably the most sensible thing to do.

I don't have the knowledge of the 3090 to come up with a build...certainly not with a non-gaming GPU on a gaming system..no idea what requirements it would have etc....my limits are at the 3080

No worries Nurse, i appreciate you're advice, and looking into it i think the 3090 maybe OTT, i just got caught up in the hype of the NVIDIA reveal earlier in the week, you reckon they will release a "Ti" version of the 3080 next year?

It's entirely possible they will release a Ti..no actual clue though as we just have rumours. Given the power of the 3080 not even sure they would consider a 3080Super or Ti as being needed

They always release a Ti. 3070Ti has been leaked, apparently, already.

May not be necessary but the accountant will always want to make the sales ;)

Oooh, interesting! You got a source on that one so I can have a read?

Hmm..would've expected a 3080Ti rather than the 3070...but I guess they would make more money off the 3070 one. And, yeah, I always forget the financial side when thinking of these things

There will most likely be both ;)

Hmm...wonder whether that means there will be less Supers, no Supers or they will simply saturate the whole line with too many

It's definitely any ones guess.

The Ti tended to be a whole tier above the card it was Ti-ing. The 3070Ti would be a strange move, no doubt as it would likely have it close/on par with the 3080.

My guess is there will definitely be a 3080Ti at some point. The 3070 variant may be a "Super" though.

Yeah, that post you linked seemed to hint it could be a Super as opposed to a Ti. Thanks for sharing that 👍

I reckon I’ll have paid off my recent system by April/May, hopefully there’ll be more info by then and I can see which will be the right card for me.
