New gaming PC

I am looking to buy a new gaming PC and would like some advice.

I like the mod’ed version of DayZ and Ark.
I want to play at max settings as I like the environmental graphics etc.
I like it to run quietly
Something that will be somewhat future proof

I have good internet speeds 109.4 download and 9.42 upload

My budget is £1200 but I am tempted by PCS OBSIDIAN TI at £1499.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you're tempted by the obsidian, then your budget can't be £1200.

By budget we mean the maximum you're willing to spend?

You're right I did confuse it.

My budget is £1200 but PCS OBSIDIAN TI has the graphic card I like and the games I like require a minimum of i5 so, i7 is a bit of future proofing. If it worth it I could push it to £1500

That's a very old 1080p monitor which is going to very much restrict any modern system.

I'd suggest configuring a 1440p system now, then upgrading the monitor at a later time when you're able to to a modern 1440p 144hz Adaptive Sync monitor which will hugely improve the overall experience.

This is slightly over budget, but with good reason, prices are still crazy high, this just about nudges 1440p, you can either source your own windows, or carry over from something you may be able to retire?

Disappointed to hear my monitor is out dated but I did buy it with my last PC 12 yrs ago.

I sold my motorbike and will not be replacing it till spring so I will up my budget to £2000, £2200 max including a monitor.

My PC is under my desk so I am not worried about what the case looks like and I always use handphones.

What do you think can I do better?

I'd:

• Change to a 12th/13th gen Intel, or Zen4 AMD CPU
• Change to a RTX3070 or AMD equivalent (6800) if you're only running 1080p ultrawide
• Unless you've got an m.2 NVME to go in, I'd up the size/speed vs the really slow 128GB PCS one
• Up the wifi card to the Intel AX200
• Change the cooler to a Corsair Capellix H115/150i
• Change the RAM to 3200MHz
• Remove Norton 360

Other than that, it looks fine!

You can save around £100 by:

• [-£60] going to the 12700 instead of the 12700KF...unless you are really intending to get into proper overclocking
• [-£10]going for W10 (and then upgrading it to W11 for free as soon as you get the PC delivered) [-£10]
• [-£5] leaving the recovery media out [-£5]
• [-£22] by swapping the Intel SSDs out for PCS models

The saving could got towards a PSU that is better matched to the CPU & GPU combo (a 750/850 RMx or RMe). You may also want to consider one of the more modern Corsair coolers (e.g. Capellix H100i) over the PCS ones, just for the quieter pump/fans.

But even with those savings above, adding in the better cooler & PSU means you're still just over your £2200 budget...
