Hey, first post and all that.

My last PC bought from Beast computers a few years ago sadly gave up the ghost and passed away a couple of nights ago. :(

R.I.P, you shall be missed.

Normally I'd stick with a company but, honestly I had a fair few problems with my computer and dealing with the company so, decided to move on.

I'd seen this site before, but after hearing fairly recently from a friend who bought a pc from here and had nothing but good things to say, I thought I'd give it a shot.

Anyways, to cut to the chase, here's my specs for my new desktop.

Only just ordered this on Sunday (Yesterday) lunchtime, I feel the only thing I could have added were a couple of SSD's but I reckon I can do without for the time being, my last computer has a couple any way if I ever want to update but since this machine is for a mix of work and gaming and most of my games are bought through Steam which sadly doesn't support multiple HDD's without a lot of craziness then other than my OS being on the SSD, it wouldn't be overly used.

Anyways, now the wait begins, hoping it will be sooner rather than later, I want my new toy dammit :D

Only thing I would mention is the HDD (I know you picked up on it with regards to SSDs). I would plump for a WD Caviar Black (you pick the size!), as the Standard drive surely will not do the rig justice with 2x 580s, a HexCore CPU and that PSU :)

With the spec you have, I would hope the additional funds for the HDD wouldnt be too much, as it really could drag the whole system down a peg, which would then mean a lot of the fancy stuff is rather waster.

Also [insert universal comment about adding silver warranty for £5] :D

Not a bad plan, I was also advised to drop the RAM down to 8Gb instead of 12 which isn't really needed for gaming.

I may switch from 2TB to a 1.5TB caviar black, 2TB for me is most likely overkill anyway, 1.5 would be sufficient and the price difference between the two is negligible.

Also, I went for the gold warranty, just incase :p I just cut most of the gubbins out of my post and kept to the specs :D

Done, hopped from 2TB regular to 1.5TB Caviar Black.

Thanks for the advice, although it cost me the princely sum of £4 for the change :p

Do note though that for the i7-900 series, the memory works better in multiples of 3 since it uses triple channel memory.
So 6GB would probably be a better number, and would be perfectly fine for gaming.

Reckon I will just stick with 12 then, I know it is a tad overkill, 6 would be sufficient but the more the merrier.

Overkill is underrated.

We can but only offer our many apologies for this outrageous additional cost :D

And so you should, that's one less pint for me in my sad, lonely computerless existence!

I miss my Deus Ex: HR already, Starcraft 2, Terraria, Left4Dead 2, sigh, 10-12 working days is going to feel like a lifetime.

So, it's my 4th day in the wilderness, no PC (Unless you count this thing I Macguyvered together and is utilising the floor as a case... I don't, most of this thing would be getting it's pension if the government hadn't raised the age!) I have noticed some grey hairs, fatigue and I feel compelled to fill my free time moving furniture, tidying and making my house look less crappy.

I am going through withdrawals, I miss gaming, I miss Youtube, I miss after a long hard day, sitting down and being transported to another world for a few hours.

Thankfully, I don't play any MMO's or use Facebook or any of that gubbins, it would give me more to miss.

Sigh, 4 days gone, My PC is in Pre-Processing, I have this computer (I only use the term computer since pile of crap would give the wrong idea) sitting on my order page most of the day, every time I pass, I F5 it, know it won't change but have this little spark of hope that I'll be moving on up to being closer to accepting delivery of my new PC.

I keep seeing in the forums, scare stories of Yodel (Who I have never heard of until now) and just hope that when I do receive my new computer, it's going to be in one piece and not having been used as a goalpost at the Yodel warehouse's workers lunchbreak.

Anyways, I'll try to keep sane during my wait... It isn't easy :(

P.S Anyone know what Yodel is like delivering to Scotland? I'm in the Ayrshire region, Irvine to be more exact.

Ive had numerous deliveries from yodel & have never seen anything like some of the horror stories posted here,
so, fingers crossed. :)

Thanks, heh, I guess it just nags at the back of my mind partly cause it costs so much but mainly because if there are issues, I'd rather not be another couple of weeks without a computer!

I guess it's different areas have different drivers, some good, some bad, hopefully I'm lucky :)

I'd love to be able to update things, but, still waiting.

Dropped from a 1.5TB WD Caviar Black to 1TB as PCS were having issues with a supplier of the 1.5TB variant.

7 Working days, 10 normal days, called PCS earlier today, it should be in for building tomorrow, after that, it's just waiting, so with luck, I should have my new toy early-mid next week.

At least Pre-Processing is almost over, I know 10 days isn't long really, but when you have no computer and waiting on a nice shiny new one the likes of which I've ordered, it makes these 10 days feel more like 10 weeks.

I was toying with the idea of hibernation, but I keep waking up after 8 or so hours.

At least in my free time, I've been able to think some deep thoughts, like I've worked out what § means. It's a picture of a snake digesting a brick.

Looks more like a melon...

Depends on your font :p

I'd maybe say a football instead of melon, I guess it depends on the size of the snake, it's hard really to have a reference.

Am I really discussing what ascii characters look most like? This is what living without a computer does to me. ಠ_ಠ

I just had my pc delivered last week to Glasgow. Yodel were ok - not great communication and the web tracking didn't update at the time of an event happening ie at 9pm the tracking would update an event from 3pm and so on.
That said i got the order dispatched email on the monday morning and the pc was delivered on the wednesday afternoon. No obvious damage to the packaging and so far everything seems to be fine. Not really had a chance to test things out much - had friends over from America who arrived last Thursday and left last night so proper testing begins now:). Overall very impressed with PCS - less so with Yodel but nothing major and to be fair i have had a fair number of deliveries from Yodel recently and haven't had much problem with them.

Thanks, guess I was a little worried when I asked a few days back, what with the bad press Yodel have been getting on here, last thing I'd want is another couple of weeks of boredom because of an inept driver.

I'm sure it will be fine, but nothing to do now but wait and hope I get it soon and in working order.

Read: Bad Press as "A few problems out of thousands" :)

Yeah, I know how it goes, if things go well, very little to nothing is said, if things go badly, a lot is said, very loud. Many tables are flipped in anger!

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Can't really use the forums as a measurement though, I'm sure most folks who order don't even sign up and most problems are dealt with over the phone and what not.

Well, bugger.

9th working day, 12th day for us mere mortals.

I receive an email from PCS, getting mildly excited as I open it, only to find out the gist of the email is..

"We would have build your computer today but we don't have the heatsink/fan you ordered (Titan Fenrir EVO Extreme) in stock, so we can't and will get it done when we have it."

About as close to an update as I have just now.

I think this was an accurate portrayal of my expression, using the medium of ascii art. щ(゚Д゚щ)

Can't blame PCS, they can't help it if stock comes in later than expected and such, it happens although I have had issues with communication, I tried to use the live help twice, once waiting around 30+ minutes and the other time around an hour to no response, tried emailing their enquiries email, no response after 3 days, I only got a reply when I emailed one of the guys there direct who I'd talked to before for security check stuff.

I'm sure they're busy and all, but it may be something they'd want to look into, custom PC's take longer than just normal out of the box Dell/HP's and what not and also often cost more money, when you have bought something over £2.5k online, good communication is essential.

Please don't take this as an attack or anything, just stating what has happened and my opinions on the matter.

Aaaanyways, back to my unhealthy obsession with rogue-like games since that's all that this computer seems to want to run, that and solitaire....but even that seems to be laggy.
