PC not showing overclocked

got my new rig today, and i checked my cpu, and it shows to be running at stock lvl 3.5 when it should be at 4.4, in this common? i saw someone else had the same issue, but in past i havent had to tax my cpu to work in overclock mode, it should still say overclock shouldnt it?

You need to run something that will push the cpu to check the overclock, it only increases the clock speed when it is pushed like prime95.

Yes, they test it, but it will only go over the stock clock speed when it needs to as keynes said, you need to run something that will tax it to get it to run faster than stock speed, and presumably the system info will only show the stock speed.

Resolve it? The clock speed is not going be showed on system information, mine indicates 3.5Ghz but it is overclocked to 4.6Ghz.

so much for stress testing, either my psu or gfx is faulty, within 1 hour, the pc has turned itself off 6 times, there is not additonal heat to make anything hotter,

Did it turn itself off, or did it bluescreen? What were you doing at the time?

Have you updated all of your drivers etc? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but often its something simple that can be fixed easily :)

no blue screen, it just turned off, the first time it did it was when i was downloading my stuff, second time it did it it was while i was playing a game, then everytime its done it its been while in game, drivers are all updated

That doesn't mean a stress test did not take place, probably something happen in transit or just an issue with the overclocked cpu. Have you try disabling the overclocked?

i belive its the power supply, i checked in event, got event id 41 The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Got to consider that would happen if it did just crash. It 'might' be the power supply but its not certain yet. You'd need to do a few tests first, but as Boozad has said, if you call PCS tomorrow morning (before midday) they should be able to talk you through some proper diagnostics

You could go to BIOS and try to disable the OC to see what's going on, you could also try a clean installation of windows.

tried the OC, didnt work, windows was a fresh install when i first booted up, it only seems to be doing it if im on a game, if im not taxing the gfx it seems to be fine

You tried to run a benchmark of some kind (3D mark etc.)? Might narrow down whether its a driver/game issue or a hardware issue?
