New PC is ordered, how does it look?

I was told this morning by PCS sales that 3080 Ti are available but with a waiting time. More surprising was that 3080 availability was better than 3080Ti. This is an inversion of the typical position but they had just received a shipment of 3080s.

I wouldn't get too hung up on Crypto. It's a nice thing to blame it on but the reality is that foundry capacity was already very low into the COVID crisis. That lack of capacity was a direct function of low silicon prices around 5-6 years ago. So COVID massively exacerbated an already developing supply problem. The positive of the likes of TSMC putting up prices by 10-20% for year-end orders, is that those higher margins will allow substantial capex into foundry capacity. So expect much lower prices in about 2025!
