New to PC Building

Hi all!

I'm very new to all of this and wanted to get my first PC to be able to game (and work on), I did a little research before picking out my build and would love feedback on any changes. I am looking to build mostly a (low to) mid range PC, anywhere I could save money while not really compromising performance would be appreciated, and anywhere I need to improve or change would also be appreciated.

Like I said I'm really new to this and not sure if this is a dumb question, but would like to know how the PC would differentiate between the integrated GPU and the GPU, like which would be the primary one it uses? Would this be able to be configured? Apologies again for the noob question!!

The build in question:

To be honest, the 710 isn't even worth bothering with...it's so old and worse than any integrated graphics from modern chips.

What games are you planning on playing?
What sort of work are we looking at?
What is your maximum budget?
What monitor will you be using?

As much information as possible is needed to advise accordingly

To add to the previous post, there's lots in there that simply doesn't make sense for either a work or game build.

For example, too slow RAM, odd choice of CPU (not very good for gaming, and not as good as the 7900X for creativity uses), too low a PSU (once you add a proper GPU into the mix), sub-optimal cooler, budget case & fans, Norton 360 (it's nothing but adware).

Like I said this is my first ever PC build, I've never done this before and did little research before picking out components and would appreciate suggestions on what I could replace things with.

Which RAM and PSU could I pick instead?
Should I change the CPU to the 7900X?
Which cooler do I pick instead?
Which case, fans and cooler would you recommend?

In response also to the post above;
Games - Triple A titles most likely
I work in data sci so using IDE's and running data analysis code on large-ish data sets
Budget is around £1000, I'm trying not to go above £1200
Monitor I can purchase later

The monitor is probably the main thing we need to know as that determines the GPU, if you are playing AAA games you really want to be looking at a 1440p system but that's going to set you back about £2K with say another £300 for a monitor

Is there anything I could build around £1200 that works decently? I have a Dell 24 60Hz monitor I could use for the time being, I can't afford a £2k monitor for now and could hold off on AAA titles for the time being as well

Can't even configure with a 7800X3D as they're on back order (as they're very popular), but the closest I could get was about £1400...and that was with a 7700, 5200MHz RAM and a 16gb 7600XT GPU.

If it needs to be 1440p, then add another £200 for the 1440p GPU.

Case
CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7700 Eight Core CPU (3.8GHz-5.3GHz/40MB CACHE/AM5) - the preferred 7800X3D is £100 more
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6)
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5200MHz (2 x 16GB) - the preferred 6000Mhz RAM is £30 more
Graphics Card
16GB AMD RADEON™ RX 7600 XT - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 - 16GB 7800XT or 16GB 4060Ti are £200 more
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE)

1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 2950MB/sW) - the preferred 2TB option (or the 2x1TB option if you want to split work & pleasure storage) is about £60 more
Power Supply
CORSAIR 750W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - minimum we'd suggest for a gaming PC, but only on the lower-end GPUs
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR H100x RGB ELITE HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER - sufficient for the 7800X3D, and plenty for a 7700 (but the cheaper PCS AIOs are not worth the risk)

Of course, if it was just for work, then the discrete GPU could be removed and you could change the CPU to the 8700G (has a Radeon 780M GPU) to it down to £1200...but it would only be good enough for very basic 1080p gaming (i.e. about 1/3rd the performance of the 7600XT in the config).

This is great thank you so much, I appreciate this a lot

I'm fine with waiting for the 7800XD to be back in stock as that was what I was originally going for (before checking today with them being out of stock so I picked what I thought was similar hence the bad CPU)

Hi all,

I posted before with a very unresearched build and received advice on where I can improve my build, I have done more research and was wondering if this is a viable build for an entry level PC?

Monitor will be Dell SE2422HX - 75Hz refresh rate, 1080p capability (will look to upgrade to 1440p monitor in the future, this one was free)
PC will be used for gaming, possibly games like League of Legends, indie games, maybe something like Forza Horizon

I am fully aware that an AM5 system would be better for upgradability in the future but as I understand it a Ryzen 5700X3D is capable enough of supporting a potential GPU future upgrade, and upgrading to the 7800X3D is slightly out of my budget and I feel would be pointless because purchasing a GPU good enough to make the most out of that processor would be too expensive.

I would appreciate any advice on this build, mostly on the case and GPU (if there are any within a similar price range that would be better for the games I have listed)

I also wanted to know if the network card I'm selecting is overkill for this motherboard, I couldn't really find much information on motherboards and I feel like the ROG Strix mobo isnt worth upgrading the power supply for, but if I'm wrong please let me know!!

I also would appreciate if I could be pointed to information on how to setup windows in the first SSD with other storage in the 2nd, I'm very new to all of this and would appreciate the help, I'm doing my best with learning and open to all advice!

Thank you!
