No RGB on 4 fans and unable to control 5 of them *New Order*

Hi guys,

New PC arrived yesterday and the top 3 fans and the back fan currently do not have RGB on them and I am unable to see them in ICUE. Using other apps like "Fan Control" & Armory Crate, I cannot control speeds.

Also, on ICUE Fan #1 is not recognised as it shows 0RPM however, I can see that it is spinning when looking in the case:

Any ideas how to get this working?

Thanks

Ok, just to warn you, sorting this kind of thing can be a little challenging, as you really need to trace the wires (both fan cables and rgb cables) from each fan to find where they're plugged into. It can get quite confusing.

So that case comes with a lighting node Core, which can support 6 corsair fans RGB, only RGB though.

And then it has a PWM repeater which can take 6 fans for speed control from one header on the motherboard.

It's a little bit of a frankenstein approach.

So you've got:

3 non RGB fans on the cooler - this model only has the rgb pump cap (https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/p/cpu...50i-rgb-elite-liquid-cpu-cooler-cw-9060060-ww). Guessing these are on the top as they should be

3 iCue fans included with the case in the front

3 extra iCue fans with included Lighting Node Pro - where are these?

And I'm guessing the back fan is a separate basic spec fan that PCS often include as a bonus in that case, not certain of that, just an assumption as to why it may not be lit

So that would make sense.

The 6 corsair iCue fans are lit by the controllers which is connected through iCue, but not the fan speed as they're connected through the motherboard. The other non-rgb fans will also be connected to the motherboard for fan speed as long as there are enough headers.

So you'd have to control fan speeds through the motherboard fan software which is AI Suite, or through the BIOS: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...v3.03.17.zip?model=TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI

Ok this all makes sense and all adds up.

I can control the OI fans from ICUE I was getting confused as I didn't realise the fans weren't RGB.

The extra fans are on the side of the case (next to the motherboard) these appear to be running at a constant so I assume they are plugged into DC?

I can now control the front case fans now and the back case fan also and now I can hear again!

What still doesn't make sense is that the one of the fans on the OI is showing 0RPM any thoughts to why that is (image on previous post)

Yeah, I can set the other 2 fans to 0 rpm and can physically see the fans stationary.

Do you think its worth reinstalling ICUE as I'm thinking it may be software at this point

All firmware has been updated however, this is popping up every time I load ICUE and doesn't go away after restart

***Update***

I opened the case and unplugged and replugged the ICUE USB's and now I can all see OI fans.

I assume the fans connected to the IO are different to the ones my PC is detecting as CPU in the bios? The fans that say CPU in the bios are fixed at 2500RPM

That's likely the pump itself

That's what I'm thinking.... I have no control on the remaining fans but now I'm detecting all 3 of the fans on my H150i the noise has significantly reduced to what I'm happy with and all temperatures look good.

Thanks for all the help guys :)

Yep, the pump will be connected to the CPU header, not to be controlled, but purely to report a speed to the fan header, as some motherboards won't boot if it can't detect a working CPU cooler. If case fans are not connected to a Corsair fan controller (like the Commander Core), then they're connected to fan headers on the motherboard, and will be controlled by fan curves in BIOS, or fan control software if installed. They won't be controlled via icue.

You can control the pump to a certain extent as iCUE gives preset speeds (much like AI Suite does) so you can change the pump speed....mine is set on quiet which is about 250rpm slower than balanced and is a lot quieter
Yep, I was talking about the case fans, not the pump though. Let me clarify, the CPU header won't control the pump, it's a single wire connection, to report speed to the motherboard.
