Noise from CPU cooler, Not air bubbles.

Hello,

Ive had my build for coming up to 5months now and in the last two weeks ive been noticing a slight hissing sound, i thought i was going crazy, now i have tried all the tilt PC run pump full speed, reinstalled icue but the sound persists.. the odd thing is it will only make the sound once I boot into windows?

Its not a contant sound, its high pitch hissing sound, sounds to me like a static sound, what could be causing this?
I have done nothing to the PC apart from update the drivers/etc.

its hard to get a video to show as it wont pick up on the phone microphone!

Cooler is the H150i ELITE RGB.

Thanks, Any suggestions would be appreciated. I dont want to have to replace the cooler :(

Have you checked your temps?

Are you sure it's the cooler and not the GPU? Does it happen all the time?

Its most certainly the cooler making the noise, temps are fine.. Playing Starfield no issues whatsoever. Only noise I hear from the GPU is while playing the slight coil whine, to add thats the noise the pump sounds like.

It does not happen all the time, while booting no noise, once into windows noise.. sometimes its louder sometimes its not, but its there

Without knowing the exact sound, it's going to be very difficult to identify a cause.

Does the sound change if you adjust the pump speed?

If you're sure it's the cooler, it could be something rubbing against a fan, you need to isolate exactly which part of the cooler it's coming from?

If it's the actual pump head, that certainly shouldn't be happening and suggests somethings on the way out, I'd get it RMA'd.

Nothing is rubbing up against any fans, the noise im sure with all fans disconnected gpu not spinning, the noise is coming from the CPU pump head itself.

How would this process of RMA happen? I dont have a box for the cooler?

You can arrange an RMA in your main PCS account, it's in the "my returns" tab

The courier would supply a box, just make sure it's wrapped in bubble wrap or something to protect it inside the box.

Just to be certain though, make sure the pump cap is properly mounted, it just lifts on and off, perhaps if it's not fully inserted it could be rattling with the pump vibration

Is there nothing else i can try before hand?
As above, but without a more clear understanding of the noise or where it's originating from, we're shooting in the dark really.

It could be a number of causes from a blockage to a leak to loose head, without a more clear picture of the actual issue, we can only really guess.

The pump itself, yes this is mounted correctly.. this noise is something that has recently been happening.. It didn't before.

Will i be able to send just the rad and pump combo back and have those sent? I'd rather keep the fans here if i can.

That way all cables will still be connected etc. just need to screw back into place.

Not something we could answer, you'd need to arrange that with PCS. It will state what's required when you submit the RMA, that has to be approved by PCS first so just add a note to query if that's possible.
