Not waking up from Sleep mode

For the past 2 days, my pc hasn't been able to wake up after being put on Sleep when I move the mouse or press the spacebar.

It has also been waking up after I put it on Sleep, which I have fixed.

What can I do?

What version of Windows? Original or upgrade?

And how did you fix it from waking up on it's own?

Is it definitely Sleep Mode and not Hibernate? These are very different to each other but 'sleep' is a general term people use for both.

Hibernate is were the contents of your ram (what your are currently doing on your pc) is saved to the hard drive. Whereas sleep is were the contents of your ram stays in your ram, but in a low power state

I put the computer onto Sleep mode. Although I use a keyboard shortcut, I don't have an option for Hibernate mode in the Start menu.

Really sick and tired of this.

When I put the computer on sleep, it either wakes up again, or it doesn't even if I move the mouse press a key on the keyboard, then I have to press the power button on the computer itself. And even then the computer goes back to sleep straight away.

It's seriously annoying the hell out of me!

Tried looking in the BIOS for something to do with power saving stuff, but I can't find anything, unless it's in plain view and I'm just not seeing it. (Motherboard is in my Sig.)

Do I have to do something in the Power Options in the Control Panel?

Regarding the waking from sleep, you need to check each device in Device Manager to ensure that the "allow this device to wake the computer" is unchecked.

I'm not so sure about the not waking from sleep. If you're running Windows 10 there is a known problem with waking from sleep.

Personally I have an SSD as my boot disk and it's so fast that I have sleep and hibernate disabled, cold booting is so fast I just don't need them.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit ..... I'll never upgrade to Windows 10!!

I don't bother putting it to Sleep any more. It puts itself to sleep sometimes, either that or it puts the monitor on 'sleep' and the pc stays on. I'm sick of it now, and I don't really want to do a clean install of Windows unless I really get fed up of it.

I unchecked them and it makes no difference.

Only thing I'd suggest is unplugging everything from the PC except for the bare essentials (ie the mouse, keyboard and monitors) - even unplug the ethernet cable and test putting it to sleep and waking it. That way you can see if its any other peripheral that's causing a problem.

When it doesn't wake up, I'm assuming it turns back on when you press the power button?

Right. THIS time I have successfully got the sleep to work properly

I've turned off Hybrid Sleep in the advanced power settings!
