Numerous problems, mostly HDD

thank you. im off now home. will do some of the stuff. hope it works. and if not ill do a clean install..

what do i do if i find the program uninstall it.. and its fine. what can i do about the msvcr.dll ??

ive tried downloading it and doing a run on the cmd but im useless at that.

any suggestions ?

Windows7 64 bit has two folders where dlls are registered,System32 & Syswow64,so unless you know where It should be I wouldn't try that method.
Doing a start up repair should really fix this problem,if you try that again delete the windows old folder from the disk cleanup utility.

Hi thank you so far Vanthus for your help.

i just got home. and my PC started up before i could finish taking a piss. and i am loading everything as smooth as gold.

but im still getting this .dll file error.. how can i fix this please ? its only google chrome and AVG that do this.. i really want to use both though. ive done a disk cleanup. but i no longer have a windows.old as i deleted it before. and startup reapir doesnt find any problems.

apparently there is a known problem with AVG when uninstalling it unsuccesfully.

when i uninstalled AVG my pc froze like before and turned off.
if AVG doesnt uninstall properly the linked frolders or w/e from the msvcr90.dll will get error messages.. after i did the repair on AVG. uninstalled it then reinstalled it.. i no longer get this error. and my PC isnt freezing anymore.

(touch wood) my pc is ok now.

the wood i touched was fake.

its not freezin. but just going slower thn my calculator running windows 94.

so im going to do a clean install.
Do i just use the CDs i got with the PC to update all my drivers ? or are there others that i need to download.
Im going to use the CDs for everything besides my gfx card. which i will use the nvidia website.

So i got home. when i tried to do the install.. my pc froze. i drove to a mates to play league of legends. then came back. i was able to click. custom install on the startup cd, i then drove back. when i got back it was on my partitions. i left hte system partition there which was only 100mb. and i deleted my other 1.. did a clean install on it.. and everything so far.. touch 2312312412451231 peices of REAL wood. its working great. just installed motherbaord CD. but nothing new on it. as i went to nvida and did the motherbaord update there. as well as the gfx card. installing LoL and Brink now at the same time while doing a AVG scan. as well as a windows update. and on skype as well as xfire, youtube, and posting here.. all looking smooth.

i think the summary is.. just clean install if ur in doubt when its a hardware / software problem. as i have now totaly opend my PC. so it wont get hot and did a clean install. also got a can of compressd air to clean.

Start -> Control Panel -> Backup and Restore

Backup to a reliable external HDD or whatever, should save you a lot of dicking around if you ever need to do this again.

I recommend keeping at least 2 backups, the current system and the last backup (minimum).
Should be pretty easy to use without instructions but if you get stuck just yell on here. Glad you got your problem sorted finally :)
