Thanks for coming back to me Nursemorph.

The monitor I currently have is an ASUS Predator Z321Q. However, I will likely upgrade prior to the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

Not a huge amount of use outside of gaming, no. It's primarily to keep me going for a few years with a good spec.

Thanks for your help here AgentCooper.

It's a 2560 x 1440 monitor @ 144 hz. I'm not too sure exactly what monitor I'll go for next, but it'll be 4k+ at 32"+ (any suggestions appreciated here, too).

That's interesting regarding AMD vs Intel as I wasn't aware that was the case. Thanks for letting me know.

Yep - apologies, just noticed I missed the 'U' in my previous post.

No worries, amigo! I’ll gracefully step aside and let @Nursemorph and @SpyderTracks be your guides on the monitor recommendations, they know their stuff. If you’ve got deep pockets, it’ll be worth having a look at the upcoming Samsung G9. We’re all quite excited by that one...

Hi all,

Quick Question as I’ll likely be purchasing tomorrow.

I can see you’ve recommended the Ryzen 7 3800xt, but I’ve seen a few reviews saying it’s not great and they’d typically go with the 3700x or 3800x for gaming as there’s no clear benefit for the cost.

It’s currently around £11 extra to upgrade from 3700x to 3800x. It’s £78 to upgrade from 3700x to 3800xt.

Thanks for any help! :)

Alex.

I think depending what applications you’re planning to have for it, it could benefit you. What I can definitely say is that I have the 3800x on a system that is used for 90% gaming and little bit of music production and it’s great. No complaints and I expect it to last me the life of the unit. What will you be using your system for?

It’s really only gaming to be honest. I’ll be going with the Samsung G9 recommendation (that thing is a beaut) and the rtx 3080.

The 3800XT will have you fully covered for pretty much every game other than something like Flight Sim 20. You’ll still have an amazing looking experience, it’ll just perform better with the extra cores of a 3900+.

Seeing as most games will still run comfortably on four cores, you’ll be well protected for the best part of a decade. What was your final build spec? Post it over, I’d love to see it 👍
Ok, great. Thank you again :)

You certainly have my blessing, that all seems great!

Yep, the TUF x570 motherboard has the future in mind. It should accept anything coming until we get the next major technological change 👍
I would actually up it to the x570 strix. Reason being is the gigabyte only has 2 usb headers and you’ll find the h100i doesn’t have a spare USB port on the motherboard. You’d need to get an internal usb hub to get all devices attached.

Ah, VERY valid point that I overlooked there! Thanks for intercepting that @SpyderTracks, you've saved the day 🙌

It’s only something that’s recently come to our attention, amazed it didn’t come up before. It’s such a shame as otherwise the gigabyte is a better value proposition.

With my TUF x570 I chose a Corsair case which I'm presuming came with the internal hub/node. Might've been the reason I didn't even think about it 🤦‍♂️

Ok, so this is what I've gone for. Although, any suggestions on an improved case (with additional USBs) so that I can downgrade to TUF would be awesome. Also, I'd be looking at a Ryzen Zen 3 a little further down the line, so not sure if I need to worry about H115i or if the H100i will still be ample.
