nVidia releasing alpha of open source drivers

No one I think has expected this.

Nvidia have released open source alpha drivers for their GPUs, but currently only Turing cards inwards which is any RTX cards

I dont understand....

So...people can now use their sourcecode and write their own drivers? Is this a linex thing to improve compatability, or could you do drivers specifically keyed to certain games or something?
