Octane III (Clevo Model P7xxDM2-G) 15.6 3k screen replacement

Hello everyone,

My Octane III laptop is still going strong but the screen is starting to flicker badly and I have to fiddle with the angle to get it to calm down. Once I find the sweet spot, it works fine but it is a worry going forward of course.

Is it the case that screens are generic, so long as the connector (30 pins or whatever the screen has) is the the same and it fits the mounting points on the chassis?

I've had a look around, and it appears there are a number of 15.6 IPS screens that would be suitable, but I thought I would tap into the hive mind on here for any thoughts or advice.

Cheers in advance,

Andy

You need to speak with PCS about looking at the screen, sounds like the connector is decaying.

Thanks for your reply. I've opened it up and the connector seems ok, certainly nothing obvious. PCS have confirmed that they no longer have this screen in stock.
You would t see anything with the connector, the traces within start to crack, you would t be able to see that.

If you go to your account, check the order and see if they have any screens in stock, at the moment cs responses are sometimes not quite accurate due to working remotely.

Until about a year ago they still had screens for my laptop which was bought in 2014 so I’d be surprised if they don’t have ones for an octane which is much newer.

Thanks again. That cable issue is a bit sneaky :) I've looked at the order and there's very few parts for this - mainly batteries, PSUs and keyboards. I'll speak to them about a replacement cable first.

Even if they can’t provide you with one, they may be able to give a link to source one.

Eurocom are an authorised Clevo parts seller, based in Germany I think, they’re always good to check out for replacement parts:
