Optimus VI 17.3" laptop - Replacing HDD with SSD

I would like to replace the HDD on my Olympus VI 17.3" laptop with an SSD. Please can anyone tell me how to access the HDD drive bay? I've attached a picture of the bottom plate - there's a double chevron on on drive bay cover, but it doesn't seem to slide open.

If you remove the screws from the back (marked as 1) this will allow you to access further screws to remove the hard drive cover.
