Optimus XI battery

Hi all

I just noticed the AMD chips will soon be available for the 17" laptops (7th July). I've been hanging on as the intels sound a bit toasty for my liking and over heating is my real bugbear also I don't really feel competent enough anymore to go down the under clocking route.

I noticed that it has an "integrated" battery. I assume this means it's non removable ? Can this cause problems. In the past I have done the static removal procedure to clear certain issues which necessitates removing the battery then holding the power button down with the power lead plugged in but power off. This wouldn't work if the battery is permanently in. I also like to remove the battery when i'm cleaning the insides.

For what it's worth I want to occasionally game (nothing too taxing) but other than that the laptop would be for general use so my spec may be a little OTT but the spec was :

AMD 4800H
2 X 8 GB 2666 memory
GTX 1650
1st drive : 1 TB Seagate mechanical 7200 rpm
M2 SSD drive : 500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3200MB/W)
2 X 150W power cable
Arctic M4 paste
3 Year silver warranty
30 day pixel warranty
Standard del
£1227

Any comments on the integrated battery in particular or why it's a daft selection (if it is) gratefully received.
Thanks

Bump..
I was also wondering if anyone knows if the Optimus XI is prone to the same reported issues as the XI Pro regarding the fan only ramping to 50% with high temperatures ?
Thank you.

cheaper and way more powerful (on the GPU side) than your pick. slightly slower SSD but the samsung has serious diminishing returns over this one in real life use

Thanks for that. ;) I had considered something down those lines but I decided that the extra screen real estate was more important to me than a better graphics card. I'll certainly take on board the good advice regarding the SSD. (y)

Check this out if you want a big screen that badly. The difference between rtx 2060 and the 1650 is over 70-80% so I would think twice before wasting money on your pick.

OK many thanks for that. I take it that spec came from the Optimus XI options not the the Pro XI, the reports of the fans only going to 50% on the Pro put me off.
Edit just noticed it is the Pro. I might wait and see what comes to pass with peoples experiences of the fan issue. I'm not in a huge rush but again thanks for your thoughts.

Is there a thread about the fan issue with the pro? I'm looking at a similar build myself but hadn't heard anything about that.

@theb52s

It's about 10 conversations below this one but there isn't any information on a solution just an agreement that there's an issue.
