You're in an awkward position unfortunately. I do know that PCS won't support a second-hand computer unless the original owner transfers the warranty and I can understand why that is. The Clevo download site also doesn't offer a BIOS for your model. I do have a link that might help but I'm reluctant to post it here, so I've PM'd you with it. Since you don't have a warranty you probably have little to lose...

I suspect it's the same link I've DM'd them with :)

The problem is that it's a two-part upgrade that involves the right level of EC for the BIOS and being done in the correct order with the correct versions of each.

Ok, so apparently the laptop does not support 9th gen cpu, only 8th gen, so can I buy a i5-8600k and return the 9600k? Would it be just plug and play

I have a htc vive cosmos, even on low settings in some games I get stuttering, but not always, I was hopping that a cpu upgrade will solve it a bit

I think it might help if you listed the full spec of the laptop so we can see clearly what you have. [emoji846]

All I want us to upgrade the cpu, most of the games i play are running just fine, sometimes I have stuttering in euro truck simulator 2 running it in vr but this happens since I am using the vive cosmos headset, before with the lenovo explorer was better, but since i got a good deal on the i5-9600k is not bad to upgrade the cpu as it is superior to the 8400 and it can be overclocked as well if i need to( i do not really oc the cpu's), but i need to flash a new modes bios to support this cpu

If you're not going to answer the questions, there's little we can do to help.

I'll leave it here. The CPU isn't your issue.

The resolution depends of the game, i am pretty sure the you can handle most of the games but i am not sure about the cpu, and the 9600k should give me a solid 10_15fps more without oc, at least the benchmarks on the web are saying this, like i sayd it is all down to some games I play in vr that is way a bit of more power will be needed

Of course you’re using userbenchmark or cpubenchmark which have no relevance to anything.

But its impossible to help without simple answers.

In have answered already, it depends of the game, for example if I want to play my pc games in vr desktop the performance is crap, on the pc i get 60fps but in the headset maybe 30fps, most of the vr games run fine, hi Alex on max i cannot run because i get low fps, so i need to turn it down to medium, same with project cars ,
