PC Help needed!

Hey guys, so the wife and I have decided to buy ourselves each a new PC.

I was just wondering if there was any chance you helpful bunch could help us in building them, I'm not a complete idiot but I am in no way as smart as you lot when it comes to what is best.

If possible she would like an all white PC decent enough for 4k. (she's not too worried if she can't run all ultra settings, she just has a 4k monitor)

I personally don't care for the colour or anything I just want it to run my Samsung G95 49".

we each have a budget of max £2500 (give or take like £100 or so).

If you don't want to waste too much time helping me with 2 seperate builds (I totally understand) then just helping me with 1 build would be fine too. I can use the build you give me to work on an all white one for her myself using your template haha.

Muchas Gracias!

What's the purpose of the machines? What monitors will be pair with them?

I thought I gave monitor information. I see I forgot to add refresh rates.

Mine is - Samsung G95 49" 240GHz

Her monitor is just a standard 4k 60hz, but I'll upgrade her to a faster refresh rate later on.

Machines are used mainly for Gaming.

Here's what I'd suggest for your needs.

N.B. The 9700X is a placeholder; you'll need the 9800X3D when it becomes available on November 7th.
The 4070ti super can handle 4K at low refresh rates; if you plan to replace your 4K 60Hz monitor in the near future, a 4080 SUPER is a better choice; otherwise, wait until CES in January 2025, when the new NVIDIA and AMD GPUs will be announced and upgrade both monitor and GPU.

I could kiss you, sir! This is a massive help. I was going to ask if waiting for the 9800X3D is a better option, and also was going to try and push the budget to add in the XTX for the black one and 4080 super in white. If possible.

Maybe prices drop in January.

If you do order now, if you can wait for the 9800X3D repeased on 7th November. Order the full systems without a GPU and fit your own current ones just for now, and then get nvidia 5000 or AMD 8000 guys in January separately as they should be quite a step up, especially for 4k and Superwide.

Hmm, I do like the sound of waiting for the next GPU's but would it not see a significant price increase? I was gonna be a cheap ass and wait for the next GPU's so I could get an XTX cheaper :ROFLMAO:

Tier for tier, we may see an increase.

But the power gained per tier means that you only need the tier down for more performance.

So a 4080 now at around £1100 will be outperformed by a 5070 in January at around £700

AMD have already confirmed they won’t be competing at the 5080 / 5090 level for the next gen

Ok fair enough, then in that case it's well worth waiting, I currently only have a 2080TI still and she's only running an RX 7600 8GB (yes, on a 4k monitor)

I am running a 5800X3D though so I'm going to give this PC to my son and just let him game on it. He should get some use out of it.

5800X3D still comes out in the top 5 in a lot of titles, it will be a great chip for many years to come, be great for your son

Well, you guys been a massive help, just one thing, the 2 PC's shown have CORSAIR 1200W RMx but when I click the links it shows 850W instead. This just a bug?

I'll wait for January and order them with whatever GPU I can fit into our budget. I think I might be greedy and throw in 64GB of RAM too, or would that not really increase performance much in purely a gaming situation?

And lastly, would they have one of the GPU's in white straight away or would that take a while? I've never really gone for a brand new one before so I'm not sure how long that takes for certain colours to come out. Otherwise I'd just give her my 2080TI until one comes out I guess.

Good spot, this happens sometime where the configurator doesnt properly load the configuration from the link, it may not be just the PSU, so go over the lot to be safe.

But yes, for me it’s loading the 750w

The only times over 32gb is needed (currently about 26gb max in games) is if you’re playing Microsoft Flight sim, or doing any kind of heavy mods. Otherwise 32go is actually overkill as it is.

I expect they will although they’re often a premium of £100 or so. Apparently it’s actually quite a substantially more difficult and expensive manufacturing method to have a white finish. But white aesthetics are more popular than ever, I would expect there to be some models available on release day.

But if you’re not ordering too January do come back and repost as prices will have changed across the board as well as new cases

Honestly I can't thank you enough, I'll stick with 32GBs RAM and I'll come back and repost around January when the next GPUs come out.

Thanks again!

When you buy the Corsair 6500X in a build do I also need to buy extra fans or does it come full of them already?
It comes with one rear fan, that's all.

It's not really possible to advise on individual components as how many you'd require completely depends on the rest of the system, if you wanted some help, post your considered specs and we can offer some advice.

Looks very nice, lovely configuration. I’m a huge fan of the dual compartment cases, I have one of the very early models from Lian Li and have kept it on my new build because they’re incredible cases both aesthetically and to build in. The 6500x is excellent in the cooling department too, it’s a worthy upgrade over the 5000x

I may suggest having the H150i radiator and fans extracting from the roof and then I’d fit an additional 3 Corsair fans intake from the floor, with the one included extraction at the rear.

That should give good ventilation through the GPU. You don’t want air taking a detour, you could have intakes from the front right side, but then that would need to arc 90 degrees to them filter out the top for extraction, and that just doesn’t work so well with thermodynamics (one of the drawbacks on my case).

As you’ve got a Link 150i, I’d suggest getting link fans too, that way you heavily reduce the internal cabling and mess and keep airflow optimal.

But that’s a seriously classy build.

BTW I have the same monitor and am “just about” driving it on a GTX1080, albeit mainly on remasters. I had to reduce resolution for the new Final Fantasy 7 Remaster as it just couldn’t manage but otherwise it’s done surprisingly well.

Thanks! It's either the corsair 6500x or the lian li 011 dynamic case just didnt know if they came with fans or not. Most of my games with this screen I tend to play windowed with YouTube open on the side lol.

I'll ask for 3 more link fans in the builder before I buy it, thanks for the info mate!

Pleasure, you've mimicked my setup although in a newer case and on 9000 series vs 7000 series CPU.

You're going to be blown away once you've got a next gen GPU in there!

Please please please do me a favour and try a game using the whole screen??? You really don't know what you're missing out on with Superwide, it's the closest experience to VR you can get on a monitor.

Ill certainly do that next time I play, it does seem a waste of all that screen not to use it, haha.

I can't wait to grab a new card, unless they're out of stock for 6 months lol. Wish we had more info on the next gen cards, I was very tempted to just grab a 7900xtx but I don't wanna do that and the next gens just blow it out the water for same price.
