PC / Windows has become very slow

The graphics card block the outer one. If the heat sink is blocking the inner one, what happens to the heat sink?

Everything is blocked by something else... I think I need to dismantle half of the system ( an exageration maybe) to get to that slot (the heat sink is blocked by a fan... and I cant see how to detatch the heat sink. Its all a bit tight in there

I might just buy a bog standard sata drive. I know there is a big performance difference, but its not for a power gaming system. Its his first PC.

Also, those stick memory cards look a bit flimsy . I bought a mini pc because I have to transport it by multiple trains between my house and my sons. I am not sure its going to survive multiple bumps, and I wont get a chance to test it the other end. My son is only a kid, so its not something he will be able to fix either.

I have learnt something new though... I was not aware of those types of drives.

That is sadly the downside of an ITX-style mini-PC. Horrendous to work in/upgrade. M.2 SSDs aren't fragile at all -- they're very durable and securely fastened to the motherboard -- actually far more so than a SATA SSD. But given the complexity I think what you say makes sense.

I installed TW Warhammer 3 on a fresh wiindows... and the load time is almost as fast as mine (my sons reckons its faster... but I am not having that!!!)

I have ordered a 2gb sata drive and I will set that as default for the games, so hopefully that will cover all bases for potential causes of slowdowns.

should a new samsumg ssd just plug and play?

I plug it in and the pc does not register it at all.

Tried different cables and slots.

You will need to create the file system in the Disk Management tool.

You have to plug in both SATA power and data cables, not just one.

Then as @sck451 says, you'll have to initialise the disk in windows in disk manager.
