Hey folks,
So I've got my PCIe cable with the the 2x 6+2 on the end, and both are plugged in to my graphics card. Easy money. My 1070 runs fine like that, but as I've got a 3080 coming and I'm tired I need to ask the stupid question.
For the purposes of cable management, can you put ONE of the 6+2 into the PSU and leave the other just free, and have the full 8-pin go into the 8 pin on the card? The idea would be two have two separate 6+2s plugged into the PSU and have the two 8 pin ends plugged in to the graphics card to make it a lot tidier.
I'm aware of the current advice that is to have a separate PCIE cable for each 8 pin slot, but the spare 6+2 floating around looks crap and it would be better if I could hide it under the PSU shroud.
Again, idiot question if there's something obvious I'm missing.
